They've actually moved to the diner on glenwood south. hmmm. I'm out of town but this sounds great as they are now open 24 horus a day.

Since all you so-called southerners like to be snobs about your BBQ, I'm gonna take this opportunity to go ahead and say that there are no good steak joints in Raleigh.

I am convinced that even if you teleported a cheesesteak from Philly and handed it to some cheesesteak snob living south of the Mason Dixon and didn't tell him/her that it was from up north, they'd still be like THIS ISN'T AS GOOD AS THE CHEESESTEAKS FROM PHILLY.

I've had cheesesteaks in Philly- wasn't impressed... they weren't bad, but nothing to write home about. Same thing with buffalo wings from buffalo.

depends on where you go in philly.

the steaks at pats/jims/ginos are pretty garbage for the most part. for the bigger names, tony luke's is acceptable.

the best ones are in the little italian delis that are more a neighborhood hangout than anything.

I feel the same way. I like mine with provolone or mozzarella. I was really surprised to hear that authentic ones use cheese whiz or sauce.

I'm pretty sure it can be argued that provolone is just as authentic as the cheese whiz sauce.

Fat Philys in Holly Springs

They have their bread shipped down from Philly and were the first in the area to have Tastykakes!

Allegedly Cloos' also gets their bread shipped from Philadelphia. I cannot verify this, but I will say the rolls they use are unlike anything else I've encountered, and quite tasty.

The website said they are now operating the jumpin johnnys menu out of the diner on glenwood south. They said it was better since they can have tons of menu items like onion wings and are open 24 hours a day.

100% incorrect. Based on the the actual ingredients itself, you don't get eastern style NC bbq anywhere else but here. You can get a philly style cheesesteak anywhere in the United States.

There are many different ways to prepare BBQ, not so much a cheese steak. That's why the BBQ debates get so retardedly heated.

horsehockey

the prime argument for or against eastern/western style in nc almost always correlates to where you happened to be born

^
Western Style BBQ vs Eastern BBQ- is apples and oranges or burgers and dogs, different product/ingredients

Cheese Steak in Philly vs Cheese Steak in Raleigh- same ingredients. Of course you can have places that prepare it better, but some fucker from Philly making a sandwich is no better at than a guy from anywhere else.

And yes I've been to Philly dozens of times and had non Genos/Pats steaks. They are delicious, but its the same stuff you get anywhere else that takes the time to do it right.

i've always enjoyed the monster cheesesteak at Ruckus

i don't like philly cheesesteaks, "wiz wit" and all that shit

i prefer a nicely toasted, quality bread with lettuce, tomato, mayo, sauteed onions, steak, provolone. if it's made correctly it's amazing. for some reason you can't find a decent one in the South, but those italians in Baltimore know how to make a good one.
