They've actually moved to the diner on glenwood south. hmmm. I'm out of town but this sounds great as they are now open 24 horus a day.

while i can totally appreciate the humor of that picture, i'm pretty sure he doesn't make the best cheesesteaks in raleigh
6/8/2011 12:51:11 AM
the cheesesteak at Cloo's is excellent.
6/8/2011 12:51:48 AM
Wait, The E Man do you mean Jonnys moved to THE DINER on South Glenwood or they now have a diner on South Glenwood?
6/8/2011 12:55:23 AM
both andy's and penn station have pretty good cheesesteaks
6/8/2011 1:16:07 AM
I whole heartedly second Anvil's, seriously guys it is the shit. Folks in there are real nice too, tell them Justin sent ya!
6/8/2011 1:51:36 AM
Since all you so-called southerners like to be snobs about your BBQ, I'm gonna take this opportunity to go ahead and say that there are no good steak joints in Raleigh.
6/8/2011 7:22:36 AM
I am convinced that even if you teleported a cheesesteak from Philly and handed it to some cheesesteak snob living south of the Mason Dixon and didn't tell him/her that it was from up north, they'd still be like THIS ISN'T AS GOOD AS THE CHEESESTEAKS FROM PHILLY.
6/8/2011 7:31:32 AM
The same could be said for your alleged BBQ.
6/8/2011 7:41:49 AM
I'm no expert but by far my favorite is Cloos'.
6/8/2011 9:18:12 AM
6/8/2011 9:21:57 AM
I've had cheesesteaks in Philly- wasn't impressed... they weren't bad, but nothing to write home about. Same thing with buffalo wings from buffalo.
6/8/2011 9:23:52 AM
^ this. shit was unseasoned meat. no salt, no pepper. whole process was disgusting, too. so not impressed.
6/8/2011 9:26:28 AM
should be in cary, cause all them fuckers are from up north.
6/8/2011 10:13:12 AM
depends on where you go in philly.the steaks at pats/jims/ginos are pretty garbage for the most part. for the bigger names, tony luke's is acceptable. the best ones are in the little italian delis that are more a neighborhood hangout than anything.
6/8/2011 10:16:06 AM
The Cheese steak at Raleigh Chop House is pretty good.
6/8/2011 10:18:58 AM
i wouldn't like authentic philly cheesesteaks because i don't like american cheese/cheezwizibtpatriotism
6/8/2011 10:22:22 AM
6/8/2011 11:13:40 AM
I'm pretty sure it can be argued that provolone is just as authentic as the cheese whiz sauce.
6/8/2011 11:15:13 AM
if it's provolone then im all for it
6/8/2011 11:15:52 AM
IF YEW DONT LIKE AMURRICAN CHEESE THEN YOU KIN GET OUT
6/8/2011 11:16:33 AM
I was unaware that there were cheesesteaks without provoloneI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
6/8/2011 11:16:53 AM

6/8/2011 11:19:18 AM
Fat Philys in Holly Springshttp://www.fatphillys.com/Fat_Phillys/Home.htmlThey have their bread shipped down from Philly and were the first in the area to have Tastykakes!
6/8/2011 11:22:53 AM
Allegedly Cloos' also gets their bread shipped from Philadelphia. I cannot verify this, but I will say the rolls they use are unlike anything else I've encountered, and quite tasty.

6/8/2011 12:25:38 PM

horsehockeythe prime argument for or against eastern/western style in nc almost always correlates to where you happened to be born
6/8/2011 1:50:15 PM
^Western Style BBQ vs Eastern BBQ- is apples and oranges or burgers and dogs, different product/ingredientsCheese Steak in Philly vs Cheese Steak in Raleigh- same ingredients. Of course you can have places that prepare it better, but some fucker from Philly making a sandwich is no better at than a guy from anywhere else. And yes I've been to Philly dozens of times and had non Genos/Pats steaks. They are delicious, but its the same stuff you get anywhere else that takes the time to do it right. ]
6/8/2011 2:14:06 PM
i've always enjoyed the monster cheesesteak at Ruckusi don't like philly cheesesteaks, "wiz wit" and all that shiti prefer a nicely toasted, quality bread with lettuce, tomato, mayo, sauteed onions, steak, provolone. if it's made correctly it's amazing. for some reason you can't find a decent one in the South, but those italians in Baltimore know how to make a good one.[Edited on June 8, 2011 at 2:24 PM. Reason : there is a difference between a philly cheesesteak and a cheesesteak]
6/8/2011 2:23:50 PM
lettuce and tomato on a hot sandwich sucks
6/8/2011 5:20:53 PM
it's all cooked together...you don't put cold lettuce and cold tomato on it
6/8/2011 5:28:01 PM
warm lettuce sucks
6/8/2011 5:32:45 PM
I kinda want to make some cheese cakes now... I know this has nothing to do with this thread.
6/8/2011 5:33:12 PM

6/8/2011 5:46:56 PM

6/8/2011 5:54:26 PM

6/8/2011 6:05:33 PM
