I've always been partial to Sullivans, but I'm open to other options (especially where the steaks don't cost $40).(ibttheoneyoucookyourself)

6/4/2011 6:43:45 PM
Make your bitch cook it.
6/4/2011 6:52:56 PM
I was underwhelmed at flemmings. Sullivans is my go to, I've heard good things about vinnie's in n. Raleigh but haven't ever made it out there.
6/4/2011 10:23:16 PM
Vinnie's on Six Forks is the best I've had. Better than Sullivan's and Angus Barn, imo. Never had Ruth's Chris tho

Angus barn is the best value.
6/4/2011 11:33:37 PM
Firebird's is definitely the best chain restaurant 'budget' steak. They have really good food, and much cheaper than Vinnies, Sullivans, Angus Barn, etc.

Jimmy V's in Cary has a pretty good Filet. But their menu changed, it used to be cheap, now it went a la carte. And that means expensive. But bacon wrapped filet is fantastic. Baked potato with it is legit.

of the "good" steak houses in the area i've been to Angus Barn, Sullivans, Ruth's Chris, and a host of other chain restaurants...I honestly liked my experience at Angus Barn the best. The steaks were pretty damn good at all three of the ones i named, but my preference was the barn.

[ibttheoneyoucookyourself]fact is, i've never had a steak in a restaurant that beats one i've made myselfnot to say i haven't had ood steaks, or that i've tried every steak option around here, but it's just that i've never been overwhelmed by a steak made in a restauranthad a damn good steak in boston recently[/ibttheoneyoucookyourself][Edited on June 5, 2011 at 9:06 AM. ^^ how do you usually cook your steaks?
6/5/2011 10:55:53 AM
^I've got the best steak in Raleigh swinging between my legs, yadig?
6/5/2011 11:34:35 AM
I hardly ever order a steak while dining out when I can take the same amount of money and buy three thick ass ones from fresh market and cook myself.. but I've always heard The Peddler, Vinnies, Angus Barn and Sullivans are the best (in that order)

I had a 45 day aged beef steak a couple months ago that was incredible. Cost was $69 for the meat alone. I thought I had tasted great steak, this steak changed my perspective entirely.

6/5/2011 1:42:27 PM
So you paid for some moldy, smelly, nasty-ass cow?
6/5/2011 1:44:44 PM
I did not pay for it. However having eaten it, I would pay for it.
6/5/2011 1:46:33 PM
Why not age it yourself?
6/5/2011 2:00:53 PM
Sullivan's is far better than Angus Barn and Ruth's Chris. I really don't get why Ruth's Chris serves their steaks on hot as shit plates. I order a rare steak because I want it rare. Not well done by the time I am done eating it.SullivansRuth's Chris
6/5/2011 2:27:13 PM
I'm gonna have to go to sullivans to try their stakes.

Haha way to show two different cuts to compare the restaurants. Peddler has my favorite setup but their steaks are subpar compared to sullivans and even angus barn. Angus barn is not that expensive but not as good as Sullivans. I rather go to angus barn though for the best value.
6/11/2011 4:29:28 PM
i was realllly not impressed by ruth chris. Def wont go there anymore, spending an arm and a leg for a sub-par steak

I have $100 to Ruth's ChrisI love a rare steak too. I may have to go tomorrow since its restaurant week!

I ate at the Angus Barn Chef's Table once.I'd do it again.

the peddler creeps me the hell out and honestly i think even fire birds cooks a better steak then they do. http://www.jimmyvssteakhouse.com/default.aspx?pageid=1ftw def better than all the chains... the only thing angus barn can compete with (kick its ass) is their wine cellar is the best on the east coast.

I had a steak purchased for me at Firebirds and it was surprisingly good.Nothing like Sullivan's, but hey, it was still good.

i had a good steak at Rey's. probably one of the best i've had.was underwhelmed by Angus Barn and Carver's Creek (good riddance)but yeah, i like to make my own steaks cause nobody but my wife looks at me funny if i pick up the T-bone and start eating off it.

I remember going to Carver's Creek when I was young and having one of the best steaks ever. Sullivan's now is probably my top pick, though.Firebirds is great as well - used to work there and learned some good secrets for my grill at home. One tip - after you flip the steak, put a small pad of butter on the top.
