U be the judge. My buddy says Smithfields is better and I think he's out of his mind.
6/1/2011 12:07:13 PM

6/1/2011 12:07:52 PM
Neither are as good as Western.
6/1/2011 12:08:39 PM
None of the above.
6/1/2011 12:08:51 PM

6/1/2011 12:09:17 PM

6/1/2011 12:10:09 PM

6/1/2011 12:11:47 PM
The best I've had anywhere near Raleigh was McCalls in Clayton.
6/1/2011 12:12:18 PM
6/1/2011 12:13:09 PM
everyone ITT, do yourself a favor and never go to Wilson for BBQ, if you haven't alreadyit will ruin any other BBQ west of I-95
6/1/2011 12:13:51 PM
The Pit is too chopped up for me, b. It's almost like bbq paste, like you get on the Cookout BBQ sandwiches. Parker's is where it's at, g.
6/1/2011 12:14:09 PM
^, ^^ I can support both of these posts.[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:14 PM. Reason : .]

I'm one of the few around here that seem to enjoy Danny's. It's a little on the dry side, but their hot bbq sauce is an excellent remedy.
6/1/2011 12:16:06 PM
Y'all needed to go to The Pit at lunch when their prices are reasonable.I want to try The Pig in Chapel Hill.
6/1/2011 12:16:08 PM
I heard a rumor from a reliable source that The Pit is cutting its bbq with frozen shit from a food service supplierthat is BAD businessgive me Cooper's over The Pit these days
6/1/2011 12:17:01 PM
i like pulled pork bbq wayyyyy more than chopped. way way way more. damn it now i'm hungry
6/1/2011 12:17:16 PM
another one of these threads, eh?
6/1/2011 12:17:19 PM
Paste? Really? Now you are just being ridiculous. You do know they have pulled pork right?
6/1/2011 12:17:29 PM
^he mad
6/1/2011 12:17:55 PM
The Pig actually has my favorite BBQ in the Triangle. It's a little sweeter than what you get in Wilson but still smoky and has good texture. Get the sprouts 'n' shrooms and hushpuppies for your sides.Hm I only went to The Pit the one time; I thought I got pulled pork but maybe I somehow ended up with the chopped. Either way I was not a huge fan of whatever it was. The brunswick stew was lackluster as well. SORRY[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:20 PM. Reason : .]

narrow window of acceptable BBQ is inside of box, with sides being made by I-95, US 264, NC 42 and US 301
6/1/2011 12:18:12 PM
6/1/2011 12:19:01 PM
Lol, obviously kidding, western sucks. Backyards was extremely greasy and had huge chunks of fat. Not my cup of tea. ]
6/1/2011 12:19:35 PM
yup
6/1/2011 12:19:58 PM
you know what i like? RED HOT AND BLUE
6/1/2011 12:20:08 PM
BBQ Lodge on capital overall is good, except the BBQ part
6/1/2011 12:20:38 PM
I want to try those sprouts and shrooms so bad.
6/1/2011 12:20:48 PM
Sticky Fingers is Charlotte is underrated. I went there just the other day. Who gives a shit what other people like. Fuck 'em.
6/1/2011 12:21:29 PM
Sticky Fingers' chicken wings are the shit also[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:22 PM. Reason : ']

They had a two face bartender who was hot from the entrance but not so much up close. Had huge pores and Van Gundy eye bags.
6/1/2011 12:23:35 PM
The blackened wings at Selwyn Ave Pub are the tits.
6/1/2011 12:23:50 PM
Mmmmmmmmmmm chicken wings
6/1/2011 12:23:56 PM
remember that dyke bartender at Sticky Fingers the night after the Heat or Mavs game?lol
6/1/2011 12:25:02 PM
I love Stephenson's BBQ out near McGhee's Crossroads in Garner/Clayton and Smithfield's BBQ (probably my favorite). Danny's BBQ is right across from my job, so I decided to try and I gotta say it was terrible. Not a fan at all. Also, if you like Cookout's BBQ.....might as well kill yourself. LOL
6/1/2011 12:28:35 PM
anyone for Allen and Sons BBQ?you can get a BBQ sandwich and 6 hushpuppies for like $3.50
6/1/2011 12:31:23 PM
Smithfields is the McDonalds of BBQ.
6/1/2011 12:32:51 PM
^^^Which Danny's BBQ are we talking about here? The one with three locations, two in Cary (Lochmere and Park Place) and one in RTP?I didn't even think he had a true eastern style sauce.[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:34 PM. Reason : ^]
6/1/2011 12:34:20 PM
Smithfields has gotten expensive, something like $6 for a bbq sammich without sides or drink
6/1/2011 12:34:32 PM
Parker's vs Pete Jones vs B's? GO^Lunch pack is like 5.99 and comes with sandwich, tea, and fries.[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:36 PM. Reason : ]

If I was going to get BBQ anywhere in Raleigh it would definitely be Coopers.
6/1/2011 12:36:33 PM
CoopersThe Pitand that's about it for Raleigh
6/1/2011 12:36:35 PM
6/1/2011 12:39:02 PM
^^^^ I've been meaning to try B's and Pete Jones for years. When I was growing up Parker's was God. Wilbur's and King's were allowable if we happened to be in Goldsboro/Kinston (as long as it wasn't the Sabath ).
6/1/2011 12:40:10 PM
Cooper's
6/1/2011 12:45:54 PM
people lets tryyyyy to stay on topic in a bbq thread here
6/1/2011 12:48:37 PM
Cooper's cole slaw is horrid but their bbq is damn good. The Pit is worlds beyond Smithfield's.[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:50 PM. Reason : .]
