5/23/2011 5:50:25 PM
Clearly this section will be called The Kitchen
5/23/2011 7:18:01 PM
^I support this. Then it will also satisfy the requests for a cooking forum too
5/23/2011 7:57:13 PM
if we create a girl talk forum and a cooking forum, i will no longer need to post elsewhere.

^So, what, a homosexual male can post in a Female's forum but a heterosexual male can't?Dunno what kind of message you intend that to send.
5/23/2011 10:49:49 PM
Nevermind. That was silly. Sorry.
5/24/2011 4:18:21 AM
I'm sure lewisje will make up an acronym and protest about this injustice
5/24/2011 8:04:09 AM
^ haha, knew that was comingI don't really like Girl Talk section excluding dudes. It's not that I personally want to go in there and talk about tampons and ponies...it's that there's no good way to restrict it ("F" in profile? Yeah, that'll work.) Also, what if there's something interested in there that everyone wants to see or even discuss? At that point, what do you even need a separate section for, besides the Lounge and Chit Chat? That said, if you do it, I think it should be named "For the Broads and Dames". No balls.Fitness/health section? I guess that would be OK, but it's pretty much already covered with a few threads, and not overwhelmingly enough that it really needs its own section (in my opinion).
5/24/2011 9:07:08 AM
^ Agreed. If adding sections is a possibility (probably isn't high on qntm's list), then I'm sure we can come up with more useful ones than Girls Talk.
5/24/2011 10:28:24 AM
^, ^^I guess you guys don't frequent the Ladies thread much, but if you read it as one long conversation it sounds like we're schizophrenic.HEY CHECK OUT THESE TAMPONSOH SHOULD I BUY THIS SWIMSUITYEAH THAT SWIMSUIT ROCKS, BUT HAVE YOU GUYS HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SELF-TANNER?WHAT DO YOU USE FOR SKIN EXFOLIATIONOH I HAVE ANEMIA, WHO ELSE HERE HAS ANEMIAYES I USE A DAILY MULTIVITAMIN, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS SWIMSUIT?(it's insane in there) -----I can't vouch for the Health section and probably can't defend the cooking section as well either, but a section for women's topics would be pretty awesome. There wouldn't have to be any restrictions like Sex: F and I think men should be able to post in there too, just as it already is in the current thread. The only difference is that if someone makes a thread or post abusing the forum, a mod would have to be alert and take action. For example, let's say someone makes a thread in there "Hey ladies............" and puts a picture up of a penis. Obviously, that wouldn't be in the scope of topics the forum and so the thread/post should be locked or edited, the person should be warned, and if it happens again then it should be grounds for suspension. I know people in Tech Talk complain that they have one thread for multiple generations of a certain product, but at least in that situation, there is a unifying topic. The Ladies thread covers an incredibly wide range of topics and there is zero organization. ]
5/24/2011 11:01:12 AM
there is no section exclusively for men. why would we need a section for women?this is dumb.
5/24/2011 11:19:48 AM
5/24/2011 11:23:16 AM
^^ i haven't seen too many women post in tech talk or the garage
5/24/2011 12:08:00 PM
5/24/2011 12:09:32 PM
I do agree that there is no place for women's hobbies and whatnot to be freely discussed as there is with Tech Talk and Garage. Women on this site are for the most part stuck in Lounge and Chit Chat, with a few ventures to Tech Talk or Garage when something breaks. Sports Talk, Entertainment and Old School are free range...though even Sports Talk is man-based and hostility is often showed to women who go in there. I don't have any problem with a Girl Talk section for them to have organized discussion on fashion, make up, supplements, flowers, puppies, whatever. obligatory If you don't like it, don't look at it.I also don't really see why we can't freely discuss fitness topics in Sports Talk. Take out a few ***OFFICIAL Teams no one else gives a fuck about************************************************ threads and there's plenty of room. The Lounge does a pretty good job of it otherwise. On the other hand, what about The Lounge just taking on Girl Talk duties?
5/24/2011 12:19:00 PM
5/24/2011 12:19:46 PM
this society has bent over backwards enough for womenthis really isnt necessary. There are much better topics from which to base an entire board.
5/24/2011 12:47:47 PM
5/24/2011 1:08:48 PM
Cant the 10 or so active broads just stick to a lone thread? If you want to legitimize said topic, just stick in the lounge instead of chit chat
5/24/2011 2:03:18 PM
I see no problem with this other than there are only like three females who post regularlyThe internet is basically like
5/24/2011 3:38:21 PM
I think a lot of females lurk. A ladies forum could encourage activity where they have less fear of FDT posts...which a lurking friend of mine (and gf of a known twwer) has experienced first hand
5/24/2011 4:40:24 PM
Actually I think this is a good idea.
5/24/2011 5:25:01 PM
5/24/2011 5:56:32 PM
Putting in my name for a mod.
5/24/2011 7:57:55 PM
I'll vote for an all ladies section if we can get an all white male section.
5/24/2011 9:19:12 PM
^^^lol no it hasn't bent over backwards for women
5/24/2011 9:40:43 PM
5/24/2011 10:01:49 PM
5/24/2011 10:08:23 PM
I just read all the comments... If you guys really think we would get serious answers only by the ladies in a thread meant for tampons specifically, or bikinis specifically, or hair color, underwear, vitamins, shaving/waxing advice, etc etc... you're on crack.
5/24/2011 10:29:03 PM
Hey my posting is for a Girl Talk thread where guys are allowed too OKAYI don't care about the health & fitness one (OBVIOUSLY) but give me GIRL TALK
5/24/2011 10:48:43 PM
Chick Chat
5/24/2011 10:59:49 PM
^haha I like it...mostly because many of guys will accidentally click on it and end up in a thread about tampons and pads and period sex.
5/24/2011 11:16:10 PM
hey i like to fish, but instead of asking for a fishing forum on tww, i go to a fishing forum
5/25/2011 7:07:24 AM
Why not just a Lifestyle forum? Also, thinking "The Kitchen" is an awesome name.
5/25/2011 9:00:06 AM
i support a lady forum
5/25/2011 9:01:37 AM
Perhaps the females should have established a more prominent role on TWW over the past 10 years, by posting more and lurking less. As it stands now, they are the underheard minority, and have no one to blame but themselves.
5/25/2011 9:06:45 AM
i would be all in for a new section for girls only but the only stipulation must be
5/25/2011 11:18:58 AM
Here's an example of a tampon thread made in chit chat. Couple of guys dropping in with unecessary images and off topic comments, nothing too bad (imo at least). Granted this was back in 2008message_topic.aspx?topic=535248A more recent thread trying to find a hair place that is loaded with garbagemessage_topic.aspx?topic=588203and same with a thread about brasmessage_topic.aspx?topic=579004The last yearly bathing suit thread was 2008 and eventually taken over by guy suits(~)...can't imagine it wouldn't get hit pretty hard if it was made this year.message_topic.aspx?topic=522983Women I've talked to say that TWW can be fairly intimidating and brash. A female exclusive section could foster more activity...you could liken it to the appeal for "female only" hours at the gym. I haven't noticed if lurker girls post in the Shop thread, but we all know how easily it is for new female posters to get creeped out and scared off when that new "Attn" thread comes out for them.I would be curious if a new section would get enough traffic/threads to warrant use, but then again Tech Talk seems pretty kicking lately. The Lounge does historically seem to be the place of "quiet" female oriented threads, but posting in the Lounge seems to go against the light heartedness that would normally be seen in the Shop thread - in other words, it would be serious business only. What the hell do I know though.message_search.aspx?type=topic§ion=1&searchstring=ladies&username=&usertype=match&sortby=date&sortorder=descending&page=[Edited on May 25, 2011 at 12:24 PM.
