It can have all the armor in the world and it won't help you if a 2 inch incline can immobilize it and require you to get out and walk to a new vehicle. I really don't know why they don't use humvees for the president.

You're absolutely right though. Did you see that drivers door when he opens it? It's about 8 inches thick, lol. That Irish crowd is just lucky the SS guards didn't get jumpy and deploy the anti-crowd countermeasures that are built into the car. As I understand it they can just blow tear gas everywhere and chill on their own air supply. I'M ALL OUT OF SUSPENSION TRAVEL I'M SO LOST WITHOUT YOU...

I love limos in general, but I'm always disappointed when I see them up close. They use cheap sheetmetal and obvious seams...the crappy ones even sag in the middle. If these are the finest cars america can build then we're screwed.

This looks nicer, but I am sure it doesn't have nearly as much protection as the Caddy... who wants to kill the Queen anyway?!

I was surprised the driver got out, definitely must have been the decoy car

The news outlets I've seen are saying it just bottomed out.

Quote :
" Departing the US Embassy – Dublin, the Secret Service Spare Limousine, carrying staff and support personnel only, bottomed out at the top of the driveway rendering the vehicle inoperable. Occupants were relocated into other vehicles and the motorcade departed out another exit without further incident. No injuries.

The size of our vehicles is always an issue and taken into consideration during the advance process. However, it only takes a slight miscalculation for problem like this to occur. Appropriate follow-up will be conducted."

i would disagree something under the front of that car collapsed... and for both sides to do it at once it could have been sabotaged!!

There was no collapse, that is old fashioned bottoming out on something.

The statement they put out say that it was the limo that was replaced by a newer one in 2009 and was only being used to carry support personnel.

either barry is flippin switches or something failed on that car. can't get any more obvious than from this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf2v9yvIH4I i'm guessing/assuming it probably has air ride and there was some sort of failure causing the bags to dump. bottom line, the suspension dropping is what caused the car to bottom out, not the breakover angle.

also fyi, that is not cadillac one a.k.a. "the beast". it's one of the heavily modified dts's left over from the bush administration. the beast is much larger and much less any specific cadillac model. obviously roughly styled after the dts, there's only a handful of parts that are "real" cadillac and they're sourced from multiple models (escalade, sts, etc.). the chassis/drivetrain is of gmc topkick (medium duty truck) origins supposedly. iirc, the dts in the video and its siblings sit on a gm light duty 4wd chassis.

Haha the closest police officer says "I don't get paid enough to get caught in an ambush." and does one of these:
