Just beat the Angels 14-0 and are now tied for first in the AL West

I love this team's rotation....Cahill, Gonzalez, Anderson, Braden, McCarthy. Great young studs in the first three. Braden already thrown a no-no.
5/18/2011 2:12:41 AM
this thread is sad on so many different levelsI'll go ahead and start with this:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6560171really can't wait for the lock though[Edited on May 18, 2011 at 2:27 AM. Reason : bandwagoners are the worst, and I could care less about baseball]
5/18/2011 2:16:37 AM
Joey Devine likely to get called back up soon.
5/18/2011 2:23:24 AM
i have adopted the A's in preparation for a move to the bay area, since i couldn't possibly adopt the giants the season after they won the series.so uhm... go A's.
5/18/2011 9:14:06 AM
BASH BROTHERS
5/18/2011 9:54:19 AM
It sucks to see Braden out for the year but he was probably the worst of the 4 main starters. Tyson Ross has been doing well filling in for him.
5/18/2011 1:05:39 PM
Sometimes I forget the A's exist
5/18/2011 1:11:42 PM
How has nobody mentioned David DeJesus yet? Best damn player in baseball
5/18/2011 1:23:27 PM
Honestly, $2 Wednesday games when I first moved to the Bay Area was what got me into watching baseball on consistent basis. The As have been a difficult team to root for the past few seasons, but I think they're getting better. Last nights blowout was fun to watch, even in the rain. And fuck the Giants. Seriously, they may have a great stadium but their fan base is worse than the Yankees
5/18/2011 1:31:55 PM
Cahill is becoming a pretty stout pitcher, possible all star this year, but the A's always have good pitching due to that damn canyon they play in. I really wish Oakland would get a new stadium just to make their games more exciting. Games in old Montreal Olympic stadium were more exciting. Also pretty much one of the easiest things you can do in fantasy baseball is pick up 2-3 of the A's starting pitchers in the late rounds because they are bound to have solid WHIPs and ERAs and be valued lower because no one has heard of them.
5/18/2011 1:43:32 PM
should have made the move to fremont 3-4 years ago when they were talking about it.
5/18/2011 2:33:33 PM
^no, they need to build a stadium in Jack London Square or in downtown Oakland.Fremont fucking sucks and it won't increase attendance at all. The problem with the Oakland Coliseum is that it's an awful part of East Oakland and there's nothing around it, not to mention the fact that the stadium is a total dump. The Giants had the same attendance problems when they were at Candlestick and their new ballpark really helped them out. I think the same thing is feasible for the As, but the ownership has made it clear they want the As to leave Oakland altogether which is really fucking stupid.
5/18/2011 2:47:58 PM
I just meant the stadium, i remember reading and seeing the renderings, looked nice. i don't know shit about california though
5/18/2011 8:56:06 PM
this is the year that brad pitt plays billymaybe theres some magic left in ol' matsui?
5/18/2011 8:58:31 PM
stadium shmadium.... this team just doesnt draw enough fans being located in oakland no matter what the stadium is like. the team and the stadium need to move somewhere that will draw a crowd - thats the only way we can start to spend $ like our competition does
5/18/2011 9:22:33 PM
when you have a shitty stadium and a team that doesn't win, nobody is going to come watch you playwhen the As made the playoffs in 2006 they drew decent crowds. the Giants had the exact same attendance problems at Candlestick and then people starting coming to see them play at AT&T long before they won the world series. The As have won four world series in Oakland and it's time for them to build a new stadium
5/18/2011 9:45:39 PM
They need a new owner]
5/18/2011 9:47:25 PM
^ this
5/18/2011 9:48:22 PM
Tyson Ross came out with an oblique strain over seven pitches, prolly will go on the DL.
5/19/2011 6:48:16 PM
Fuck Oakland! Hopefully the Angels will fair better when we meet again next week. Can't believe we have dropped 5 straight
5/19/2011 7:43:51 PM
injuries cause the wheels to fall off just about every year. I wonder if ol' Rich Harden will get better in time to save the day?
5/20/2011 2:47:49 PM
DeJesus is blowing up my boys right now. 2 HR 3 RBI, 5-0 in 4th.
5/24/2011 11:02:45 PM
Can't wait to go down to Golden Gate Park and watch some Athletics games!
5/24/2011 11:03:37 PM
Grant "Ball Four" Balfour the new closer
5/25/2011 6:51:23 PM
its only a matter of time before bailey returns. still - our pitching isnt the issue l even with balfour in there...
5/25/2011 8:23:13 PM
after a horrible losing streak and firing Bob Geren , we just swept the defending world series champs

Rich Harden tearing it up in minors alreadyhttp://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/20/rich-harden-strikes-out-side-twice-in-first-rehab-start/anything can happen with this team, but will take a miracle run to make the playoffs. At least theres some glimmers of hope (e.g. - Weeks with hitting coach Rickey Henderson)
6/20/2011 10:52:50 PM
Henderson looks like...well I don't know what he looks like in that picture but its goofy looking
6/21/2011 1:20:02 AM
Speakin of Rickey Henderson, I gotta give that motherfucker a call...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a07RHTdJE28

heatin up....... move to NC?
6/22/2011 11:59:54 PM
lol
8/26/2011 2:16:08 AM
i tried to go watch the A's the other day, and it's a total waste of time at this point. the team is just so bad.
8/26/2011 11:40:53 AM
<------This guy would love to have the As in NC. Or any team for that matter. They would surely draw better than they do in Oakland. Tired of hearing the arguments against a NC MLB team.
8/26/2011 11:52:16 AM
dude are you joking? no city in NC could support a baseball team. you know baseball teams play 162 games per season, many during the day during the week, right? i mean i guess the marlins don't have a problem playing in front of no one, but charlotte or raleigh wouldn't do much better i'm sure.
8/26/2011 5:13:41 PM
tired of that excuse. nc needs and deserves a MLB team.
8/26/2011 11:21:18 PM
what has north carolina done to "deserve" a baseball team?
8/26/2011 11:37:10 PM
during the week, obviously. during the day? not so much. most of the day games are sunday getaway days, which wouldn't be a big problem. i'm not saying NC should have a team really, but i don't know that we don't "deserve" a team. baseball is still pretty big in NC, i could see it working decently
8/26/2011 11:45:54 PM
Charlotte is the 15th largest city in the US. I know damn well we would draw as well or better than Miami Tampa KC Pittsburgh Oakland for starters. Look at all the minor league teams in Nc. Nc loves baseball. I don't get the people that think we're joking. A sports loving state with the 11th biggest population would support a team in the triangle or Charlotte. I'll bet more people thought the Canes wouldn't make it either. I guarantee you 20 years ago people would have laughed your face off if you told them Raleigh had a nhl team and they've won a Cup.
