http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/05/11/1189470/triangle-getting-new-set-of-digits.html

This is gonna get interesting. The reporter hits it exactly, that 919 IS the triangle, and that most ppl arnt gonna realize for a long time that this is a local area code.

I didnt realize there were that many out west now... To me its always been 704 charlotte and 336 anything else out west. Charlotte also has 2 and then the 828 for the mountains

It shouldn't really get that interesting, at least for people that have lived outside of the area at one point or another. I think it's pretty automatic for most people these days to remember 10 digits instead of just 7.

This seems like something Andy Rooney would complain about.

I remember the day they created 336... and 910. I it was only 704 and 919 in NC back when I was a kid. Apparently 919 was split off 704 in 1954. Glad I'm not old enough to remember when it was only 704.

They should have kept 919 for Raleigh, durham, and Cary and assigned 984 to everyone else.

This would also serve to help push chapel hill out as the third point of the triangle, and just make it yet another town basking in the economic glow of the triangle.

I'm shocked that no one has made the Simpsons area code episode reference yet.

Boo hoo. We had to change in Eastern NC like 15 years ago from 919 to 252.

Honestly, who remembers phone numbers. With a cellphone, I just program the whole 10 digits and really couldn't care less. Several of my friends that live here have cells from other parts of the country and I don't notice that shit a bit.

I like 919 too much. This means I will have to wonder before I dial #s if they are 919 or ... well shyt, I already forgot what that new area code is.

Can you still dial four digits on campus? Or did that go out with having to register in Reynolds?
