I was thinking of turbocharging an old BMW? It sucks how you keep wanting the most fun to drive, comfortable, fastest cars you drive. So easy to step up, not so easy to step back down...
5/8/2011 7:27:47 PM
I would stick to something you could make money on. seems the highest chance for high margins are flashy items that people finance like a c6 z06, another porsche, maybe a lotus
5/8/2011 7:32:47 PM
Just get a fucking turbo and be done with it. Or grab an e46 and throw GCs, TCKs, or PSSXs on it.
5/8/2011 7:45:53 PM
What the hell is up with these threads. You're not gonna listen to anyone's advice. Just buy whatever the hell you want and go on about your business. Who gives a shit.Buy a tractor. Fuck it

spaceballs the FLAMETHROWER!
5/8/2011 8:52:23 PM
2jz a volvo 240
5/8/2011 9:21:07 PM
I've been lusting after an s50 e30 lately...

5/8/2011 11:59:10 PM
I would totally do a turbo 240 - Volvo that is. I want to tune something to an inch of it's life, but it has to be RWD, manual transmission and reasonably light. There's a half of a project I'm thinking about picking up. The car is mostly a junker e36 325i, but has a T4 Garrett on it for just shy of $3k, not so bad...[Edited on May 9, 2011 at 12:28 AM. as an experiment of humility, you could drive an old camry or something similar[Edited on May 10, 2011 at 7:17 AM. Reason : x]
5/10/2011 7:16:50 AM
Although it is indeed pretty awesome, driving around an e36 M3 is as much humility as one needs at this point.Time to give other people a lesson in humility and grab that Turbo.
5/10/2011 7:47:46 AM
lol m3 = humility ???240hp....???hmm
5/10/2011 10:12:56 AM
What about an exotic. I'm sure some failure might be hard up for moneys

LoLi have 2 criteria HP, Drivetrain M3 has both,Civic may have one??
5/10/2011 11:05:27 AM
FYI, I'm driving the Volvo 850 wagon I bought mom when she was around, so got that covered. It's a turbo that's chipped and running more boost (260ish hp prolly), but in a 3300+ lbs wagon with an auto, it's not fast...That said, I'd rather drive a 25 year old $700 vw gti than an appliance snooze mobile, which I did as an only car for a bit a few months ago. You guys are acting like I only touch bugattis when I'm not being driven around in my bentley...
5/10/2011 11:07:38 AM
To mini coopers that are track preped bore you. 5.0 is really the only option. American iron ftw
5/10/2011 11:21:51 AM
lol i'm actually just messing around... i do however disagree with anyone who says any M3 is a humble car. [Edited on May 10, 2011 at 12:23 PM. Reason : .]

i think e36 m3s are very humble cars in 2011.
5/10/2011 2:04:21 PM
Maybe it's cause I think they're so cool, but I still think e36 M3s are sweet. I'd sit and admire them for a few minutes every now and then. But... there's no reason to own one unless one was budget limited to $10k or so, there's some cool cars just above that price point.
5/10/2011 10:48:18 PM
rb powered 240
5/11/2011 9:21:10 AM
i guess i'm with ahmet. I would feel sorry for someone driving a 2001 camry but a 1995 m3 i wouldn't feel sorry for the owner of. The car is perfectly capable and its fun. They also age very well so its probably not falling apart unless it was extremely poorly maintained. I may feel sorry for the car if the owner has modified it improperly (huge ricer wing chrome wheels etc).
5/11/2011 11:28:54 AM
If I could drive one to work and get away with it, I'd get a 1989 911 or a 993.
5/11/2011 9:02:55 PM
Here is the perfect car for you.It is powerful.It is light.It is a PORSCHE.http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/porsche-962-for-sale-2011-05-10Listing: http://www.elmscollection.com/view.php?id=060411022938&title=1986%20Switec%20-%20Porsche%20962C1986 Switec-Porsche 962C3.6 liter TT flat-6580 hp547 lb-ft1,826 lbs

No doubt that's super cool, but it's several levels of magnitude more than I can afford. I am itching for something quick/fun though. As much as I like the Volvo wagon, I don't want to be driving it much longer. 3300 lbs + torque converter +fed is a bit much, I don't care how cool 5 cylinders, high pressure turbos and wagons are...[Edited on May 12, 2011 at 6:12 PM. who wouldn't ? I am a ford guy and even i like second gen chevelles, 1st gen camaros and the "chevy 2" novas.
5/13/2011 10:07:22 AM
somehow ahmet could find a way to not like it lol
5/13/2011 10:28:10 AM
Ahmet should probably buy my car, thus freeing me to pursue a 996.I still have 60k left on my bumper to bumper warranty
5/13/2011 11:55:32 AM
an 80s turbo buick
5/13/2011 12:17:24 PM
actually ahmet needs something that will turn so as cool as these last few cars have been... probably a no-go.
5/13/2011 12:24:42 PM
s2000 with a 2jz
5/14/2011 11:03:44 AM
fuck a 2jz...if you're going to swap a motor into a car, the answer almost always should be LSx
5/14/2011 3:24:27 PM
Jzs are good motors but there is no replacement for displacement
5/14/2011 3:49:35 PM
every car should have an LSx
5/14/2011 4:20:09 PM
Until you realize how much lower center of gravity is on a flat 6 and how 8200+ rpm is... nice.Just sayin.
5/14/2011 9:47:00 PM
I love inline & flat sixes, and wouldn't advocate for putting an LSx into a 911...I'm talking about doing an engine transplant to score a bunch more hp (and more reliability in some cases). There are only a few cases where it makes sense to use anything besides an LSx.
5/14/2011 10:25:23 PM
Ahmet,Have you thought about the approach I've kicked around the idea of...abandoning any intention of multipurpose use, and just buying a sports racer (DSR, trackday special, etc) or Super Seven...then getting something practical and efficient as daily transportation? For example, for sale outside of Charlotte...http://www.racingjunk.com/category/89/Sports_Racer/post/2206217/Diasio-962.html...or if you don't care about having a 2nd seat:http://www.racingjunk.com/category/89/Sports_Racer/post/2173248/SCCA-D-SPORTS-RACER-DSR.html[Edited on May 14, 2011 at 10:53 PM. 5/18/2011 2:51:24 AM
what did you chicken out of?
5/18/2011 7:58:21 AM
Something different, something more... turbocharged. I feel like god made the GT2 for me, I just don't understand why he didn't also give me the $ to buy one?
