because now we SERIOUSLY need him to stay.
4/26/2011 4:08:43 PM
0/1 so far on these things
4/26/2011 4:09:28 PM
fuckin jinxed it
4/26/2011 4:09:50 PM
Why would HE leave? "Oh no, a white coach! This is not what I signed up for!"
4/26/2011 4:10:06 PM
Purdue boards were discussing the possibility a while back
4/26/2011 4:11:32 PM
scott wood seemed the most likely to transfer based on his comments after gottfried was hired.
4/26/2011 4:30:34 PM
4/26/2011 4:37:16 PM
Wood hasn't said anything...
4/26/2011 4:41:51 PM
it's a good feeling when you think you're about to lose wood, but then wood decides to stay.
4/26/2011 4:43:27 PM
4/26/2011 4:45:12 PM
lol
4/26/2011 4:48:19 PM
4/26/2011 4:49:52 PM
^ The writer certainly didn't make that assumption with Harrow.
4/26/2011 4:51:16 PM
4/26/2011 4:51:28 PM
^^b/c he was talking about starters. harrow wasn't a starter.[Edited on April 26, 2011 at 4:56 PM. Reason : i'm just saying that i put no stock in that....]
4/26/2011 4:55:11 PM
if we're going to be deep at all, we're going to need wood.
4/26/2011 4:57:45 PM
4/26/2011 4:58:22 PM
4/26/2011 5:34:31 PM
^^Interesting. I remember some chatter about Wood transferring on a Purdue message board recently. And I really haven't heard anything about it since...I know with a new coaching staff decommits and some transfers are always a possibility, but we'd be in some serious trouble next year without Wood and Harrow.
4/26/2011 5:39:26 PM
Wood is one of the best fucking shooters in the country and is athletic and good on defense. He could easily see a long NBA career. We MUST keep him.
4/26/2011 6:07:50 PM
4/26/2011 6:09:50 PM
long career != you have to play 40 minutes a game
4/26/2011 6:11:30 PM
6'7 athletic shooter that can handle a little is a high demand asset. He can get his shot off in the NBA and clearly has NBA range. He can also defend better than most comparable players and he's still only a sophomore.
4/26/2011 6:15:19 PM
he still has trouble getting his shot off here unless he's wide open or correctly comes off a screeni like wood i just wouldn't say he could easily be in the NBA
4/26/2011 6:23:07 PM
NBA shooters don't need to create their own shot. They just need to hit the ones that are created for them.
4/26/2011 6:26:27 PM
He had trouble getting off his shots because of how lowes sets were run. He always was cutting and pivoting off ofthe wrong foot given which the hand he show with.
4/26/2011 6:31:01 PM
i just think you are underestimating how difficult it is to make the NBAWood has all the tools in his shed, but he needs to put up more consistent numbers in order to be considered NBA material.that said, he could blow up next season. i really don't know, just saying he has to put in a lot more work if what you say is true.
4/26/2011 6:33:02 PM
I won't post in this thread
4/26/2011 6:36:00 PM
Numbers don't mean shit. There will be an opportunity for them to see first hand if you can play or not.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=22256Also, if you can shoot with his kind of range and have his height and quick release, you are automatically considered. Kind of like if you are 6-10+ and athletic.
4/26/2011 6:43:01 PM
his game is too limited right nowhe has a lot of work to do to get a shot at the league. it's not impossible but it's very unlikely at this point since he didn't change his game much from fresh-> soph years
4/26/2011 7:13:08 PM
If I didnt have Wood a few times a week during basketball season I dont know what I would do
4/27/2011 1:15:09 AM
4/27/2011 2:02:40 AM
supposedly this is from Scott Wood's dad:
4/27/2011 10:35:56 AM
^he made a mistake coming here in the first place then...when was our offense under Sid EVER dribble drive?
4/27/2011 1:19:25 PM
hopefully the next coach will run some screens for Wood to get him better shots
4/27/2011 1:24:30 PM
I am one of Wood's biggest fans. And all of last season it seemed to me like he was incredibly underutilized, or just plain forgotten.I don't know what happened there. Hopefully he stays, and hopefully he can be a 16 ppg guy with an above 4o % 3 range.
4/27/2011 1:29:26 PM
he's not that far off. i guess 16ppg would be a 60% bump, which is a lot. i can see it though.
4/27/2011 1:32:26 PM
Cue the "If Scott Wood made two more 3 pointers per game..." ESPN graphic.
4/27/2011 2:31:10 PM
i fear that if Wood plays the 2 position, he's going to have to work a lot harder to get open...much better defenders
4/27/2011 2:48:35 PM
he doesn't need to get open. Most of the shots he ends up making are when he has a hand in his face and is being defendedI honestly think that's why he will be great
4/27/2011 2:52:04 PM
He's gonna have a couple inches on the guys defending him, too.
4/27/2011 2:54:53 PM
couple inches of wood amirite?sorry sorry
4/27/2011 3:02:57 PM
Wood is a horrible defender and probably couldn't stop Terrence Oglesby from dropping 30. He should always guard the weakest wing on the floor, preferably with weak side help readily available.
4/27/2011 3:12:45 PM
I've muttered these words while watching Scott attempt to play defenseC'mon, Wood. Don't give me this ole bullshit!
4/27/2011 6:58:18 PM
Wood had a lot more 'crazy/dedicated' fanbase than Harrow did... how many timeout video segments did you see of girls with posters and sh!t about him?wood he really leave those fans?!?!
4/27/2011 7:37:18 PM
I just Scott Wood
4/27/2011 8:19:10 PM
bump
11/12/2011 5:39:02 PM
let's keep track of the number of 2 pt FGs that Scott Wood makes this season.11/11: 1
11/12/2011 5:45:52 PM
One thing that I have noticed is that UNC has no lockdown shooting threat on their roster right now.And we have some serious wood.
11/12/2011 6:10:34 PM
I'll reserve judgment on that until they play indoorsand Barnes still looks like he can hit any open 3
11/12/2011 6:18:36 PM
