Didn't realize Russell was playing for Ashevillehttp://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=2B&sid=t573&t=p_pbp&pid=519432Currently batting .182/.250/.273, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 2B, and has struck out in nearly half his plate appearances. But he's playing in Greensboro in July! Assuming he isn't promoted.

i really can't see what the rockies saw in him to make him a relatively high draft pick. didn't he bat like .250 or something at state? that's not very good for collegei really thought if he performed well at the combine or pro day he'd be a late round pick in the nfl. even if that didn't pan out, he could play in canada and make way more than a career minor leaguer. i know he loves baseball, but that's not a very smart business decision

Asheville Tourists, what a shitty name for a team. I can only imagine what their mascot looks like

Wilson was drafted because he had two essential skills1. Speed2. A strong armYou cannot teach either one of those skills. The Rockies saw him as an athlete that they figured they could teach to hit and become a solid player. Or maybe they just like having college QBs in their system (Helton, Smith, Parker, Wilson).

well sure, if he makes a big league roster that's different. i just think the chances of him making the nfl or cfl are greater than making in the bigs. really not trolling, because i actually like him a lot

Five-year guaranteed contract with a nice signing bonus and the potential to make more money than in any other sport versus (at best) a non-guaranteed offer in a sport where the average career is three seasons.Tough choice.
4/15/2011 3:21:41 PM
I imagine his batting average will come up the longer he focuses on just baseball. Playing football took time away from batting practice I'm sure

the Rockies drafted Michael Vick

Hey Kyle. Mind signing my glove?
4/24/2011 9:27:01 AM
In baseball they draft off potential. He may not have had great stats but they saw a lot in him
4/24/2011 11:21:42 AM
Ill tell you what they saw in himPitching coaches don't look at batting avg. The kid has nice machanics and will learn a lot.

RW is my favorite baseball player ever
4/25/2011 9:23:46 AM
So he's not coming back to football for sure? or do we still have to wait until the summer to be certain?
4/25/2011 10:09:15 AM
Rangers just took him in the Rule 5 draft.

OK, I got this one wrong
12/12/2013 1:12:46 PM
LOL you should be in the guillotine for this
12/12/2013 1:45:08 PM
i know i posted at least once that glennon was far more likely to make an nfl roster than wilson
12/12/2013 1:51:26 PM
is he gonna try to be Deion/Bo, minus the baseball talent?
12/12/2013 6:54:42 PM
He could play for the braves, our 2b sucks just as bad but has no excuse and costs too much..
12/12/2013 7:49:47 PM
LOLthis is such bad idea for Wilson. Unlike Bo/Deion/others all these guys played FULL SEASONS of baseball in college and were good at it. stay where you're at Wilson
12/12/2013 7:51:00 PM
He's not going to play baseball he knows he sucks monkey sac.And while RW is undoubtedly the better professional football player, i wouldnt necessarily say Bullet's prediction was wrong. Glennon was 100% (barring injury) to make a pro roster. RW had more upside potential possibly, but he definitely wasn't 100% to make a roster. I'd say more like 80-85%. I'd go as far to say if QB rushing were not allowed, RW would not be in the league at all. And given that he isn't an elite athletic rusher like Vick or Griffin, there were some questions as to whether his rushing game would translate in the NFL. His pocket mobility, poise, intelligence, and leadership were all easy to predict would translate. But his arm and/or legs alone weren't enough to make him a sure thing. The combination of them along with his elite characteristics I listed above were enough to make him a great QB, but there were some question marks for sure given his height.RW was obviously a fucking God in college and the best QB in school (ACC maybe?) history but Glennon was a more clear cut prospect to make a roster. That was just certain based on his arm strength.
12/12/2013 8:02:35 PM
Glennon had the tangibles.Wilson had the intangibles. Both made the most of it...
12/12/2013 8:24:55 PM
12/12/2013 9:32:03 PM
I'd consider him an elite athletic rusher. He just doesn't rush a lot because he gets rid of the ball or runs toward the sideline a lot to avoid ACL tears.
12/12/2013 9:45:56 PM
Now the rangers have the best QB in Texas
12/12/2013 10:05:01 PM
If QB throwing the ball wasn't allowed, Tim Tebow...never mind...
12/12/2013 10:05:50 PM
If tight end receiving wasn't allowed, Jimmy Graham wouldn't even be in the league.
12/13/2013 12:03:10 AM
If wide receivers weren't allowed to touch the ball with their hands, Megatron wouldn't even be in the league.
12/13/2013 10:22:38 AM
C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker!
12/13/2013 10:58:44 AM
If hard hits weren't allowed, DB's couldn't... oh wait
