I absolutely HATED the fat lady in the first trailer they released, but there are way too many talented people involved for it to suck

also my crush on Ellie Kemper is getting bigger by the day

The fat lady is kind of eye-roll-worthy for a bit but she grew on me

Your loss.

No hilarious Jon Hamm or surprising weird Tim Heidecker casting for you.

It seems like they're marketing this towards people who enjoy Adam Sandler movies...probably not a bad decision financially.

what demographic is this aimed at, because it looks like a chick-flick/apatow bastard child which sounds like a terrible formula for a movie to me.

eh, looking at Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Apatow already occasionally wades in "chick-flick" waters

not really, Judd Apatow is viewed as a huge sexist. Especially in the former, but even somewhat in the latter.

That being said, i'm sure i'll redbox this one someday but it has zero draw to get me into a theatre. For one, as much as I like Kristen Wiig and find her attractive she looks terrible in this one and Maya Rudolph has not aged well at all.

Some people certainly feel this way, but plenty of people feel the exact opposite...The Atlantic even did a piece this month why Judd Apatow ISN'T sexist.

Yeah I go to comedies because I find the headliners attractive.

Only reason I saw The Hangover was because Bradley Cooper is so fucking dreamy.

an argument could be made that many [most(all)] "chick flicks" are hugely sexist

This movie is absolutely hilarious. It was exponentially better than I anticipated. I have not laughed this much in the theater ever.

It had funny parts, but it wasn't wall-to-wall laughter either. I give it two stars. Minus one star for a meandering plot, minus another for being waaaaaaay too long.

Very Funny. The bathroom scene in the beginning was too much. It was a little slow and drawn out in the middle but I laughed a lot.

female comedies are all about taking awkward moments and making them more and more awkward and drawing them out until people start laughing at the awkward. It makes me cringe(and thats what i did more often than laugh when i saw this movie)

I thought the girl porn (gratuitous shots of puppies) was a nice touch.

^^ my guess is the one scene where the two girls kept taking turns trying to be the last person to toast the bride at the engagement party. which I will agree got kind of stupid/annoying/old

but there were plenty of other funny scenes that did not do that awkward bullshit

I haven't seen Bridesmaids.

what I'm asking is what are these "female comedies" that are "all about" awkward moments?
