I have a rust hole in the frame of a 91 Jeep YJ. Would like to get some steel welded over the hole to strengthen the area. Either a plate or some angle, or maybe both? On the driver's side, in the rear, near gas tank. I have neither the equipment or the skill to do this. Can someone suggest some one or some place that can handle this job? Thanks,

Jeepman if he'll take it.

Second Jeepman...but if it's like a lot of YJ's, then the whole frame rail is being held together by rust that's still in place.

^ Yeah, that's what I was thinking. And I certainly wouldn't want Matt taking any liability if he does the patch job and it falls apart somewhere down the road.

This is the problem with today's society. The question is never can it be done, but what about the liability? Just want to see if it is possible to fix, I know it won't last forever.

I have a picture of the infected area in my photos. I think maybe a couple of pieces of angle steel would help, or maybe a piece of plate steel.Hopefully, the picture will help with the what can be done, and not require more lawyers than reside in Raleigh.

I'd be more than happy to take a look at it. However, I cannot take responsibility for any rust around my welds falling apart I'd guess it's around the rear leaf shackle mount? I would probably cut out the cancer and weld in a new piece of box steel if needed, or just add a new plate if it's just one side.

Yep, near the rear shackle mount. Thank you for being willing to take a lot, sent a pm
