My friend wants to take me out for dinner Monday night. I want to try a restaurant in the Fayetteville Street area that I haven't been to before (so not Raleigh Times, Sitti, The Oxford, Cooper's, The Pit, Jibarra). Suggestions?

Oh yeah, forgot to list Poole's But I've only been there for brunch so dinner would be new to me.[Edited on March 12, 2011 at 5:48 PM. Reason : verbs]

That new Thai place (http://faithai-raleigh.com/) could be worth checking out. or Humble Pie.
3/12/2011 5:56:32 PM
Gravy?
3/12/2011 5:59:54 PM
Poole's FTW!!!I'd say Capital Club 16 but I believe they are closed Monday nights Super bummer cause it is delish! I haven't tried Gravy myself but have heard decent things. Caffe Luna also good...but close Mondays I think as well.Dos Taquitos?!OR FAI THAI! Old Duck and Dumpling just opened with the William D'Auvry menu. The menu looks pretty good. I really wanna try that. I know it isn't exactly Fayet. St. but...close and could be worth trying![Edited on March 12, 2011 at 6:15 PM. Reason : .]

I ate at Sitti once, it was the worst experience of my life; tasteless and overpriced.
3/12/2011 6:16:44 PM
people hate on it, but i really like sono
3/12/2011 6:32:12 PM
Go to Fai Thai! I've been there a couple time and it's really good. Not too pricey and good drinks.Get the sour curry or the half roasted chicken.
3/12/2011 6:36:25 PM
buku
3/12/2011 6:39:15 PM
I'm pretty disillusioned with Buku after working there. The food is good but I think the price point at dinner is too high. Lunch there is a great deal though.
3/12/2011 6:45:02 PM
Buku is awful.Poole's is wonderful but closed Monday/Tuesday.
3/12/2011 6:53:25 PM
thx unow I have decided where to go for brunch tomorrowpoole's it is
3/12/2011 6:54:53 PM
i think "awful" is a little extreme in regard to buku. it wouldn't be my first choice down town. But it's decent and is in the fayetteville st. area. The prices for the entrees are a little high. But I thought there were a lot of decent options outside of the main entrees for a decent price. I've only been once (a few wks ago), but everyone I was with seemed to enjoy what they had (there were 7 of us) and we all got something different. Everything I tried was good and they all seemed to be a decent sized portion for the prices at a place like that.

I've been twice. Everything everyone ordered was mediocre-to-poor both times, and the service the second time was atrocious. Never again.
3/12/2011 7:12:11 PM
I like cafe luna
3/12/2011 7:56:04 PM
Dammit I forgot so much crap is closed on Monday
3/12/2011 9:00:08 PM

3/12/2011 9:02:10 PM

3/13/2011 11:07:46 AM
Gravy's calamari is the absolute best I've ever had, and their service staff are phenomenal.I think it's a little pricey on certain things, however.

^ i went to gravy when it first opened and was underwhelmed myself; i do think it's got a lot better in the last year, fwiw.
3/13/2011 11:19:12 AM
yeah, been changes in the kitchen and management was brought over floating from other restaurants in empire eats to get it up and going. It is great now- need to go again some time.

Went to Jibarra last night.....definitely wasn't impressed. I wouldn't recommend (even though u said you've already been). Small menu, hostess was an airhead, slow service, overpriced food...etc.
3/13/2011 2:36:23 PM
i also had a bad experience at Jibarra i liked my margarita but other than that...i was not impressed with what i had. supposed to be seared ahi tuna tacossooooo overcooked and disgusting.

3/14/2011 12:57:07 PM
^^^ ^^ What is ceviche??
3/14/2011 1:30:16 PM
If you don't know what a ceviche is, you wouldn't know a good dinner. So take your ass to McDonalds.
3/14/2011 1:44:17 PM
^^ kind of like poke made with raw fish, spices, etc. So good!
3/14/2011 1:49:05 PM
