need a driver for dvd drive.

dvd is a samsung sh-202n

samsung website aint helpin. any suggestions

That should be plug and play for the most part. What are you seeing in device manager?

for reading discs you should be good to go.

writing, however, might take a driver.

also, what OS?

a)should be PnP
b)device manager has driver listed as generic cd rom driver
c)win 7

Looks like you may be out of luck. It can be tricky getting older hardware to work on Win 7 without the manufacturer updating the drivers... I had issues getting a USB keyboard and all it's functions to work on Win 7.

Does the cd/dvd icon not show up when you are in My computer, or just computer in win7? If so it might be registry issues.

ok, its weird. drive shows up in my comp, but it refuses to read anything i put in it.

is there some over-arching driver or utility i should check out? ive got a foxconn mobo, but their website for downloads eats ass (in that its the slowest thing ive ever seen...page for downloading updates gets hung up constantly)

ive got poweriso, and ive successfully burned a dvd, so i dont know where the issue is.

samsung makes some of the shittiest computer products i have ever seen. I've replaced 2 harddrives and cussed several samsung laptops. Our koreans love them.
