any y'all use this stuff? picked up a can from a pusher that hit me up at the gas pump, he used it to clean up my rear fender pretty quick and easy...think i'll give it a shot on the whole bike

Is motortrend any more terrible of a magazine because you bought the subscription off a crackhead?
2/21/2011 8:02:08 PM
But yeah...is it garbage because it just doesn't work or because it will fuck up my chrome and clear coat? Seemed to work pretty well on my rear fender with a winter's worth of road grime on it. Im not expecting this to do the job of a good rubbing compound and wax shell, but for keeping it gleaming on the quick after a week of riding or so it seems like a reasonable product. Reviews are mixed but I think the problem with the negative attitudes toward it stem from people expecting it to grind through a coat of mud without scratching shit up and have a bulletproof wax shell afterwards[Edited on February 21, 2011 at 8:14 PM. Reason : expectations]

you bought a magazine subscription off a crackhead at a gas station?it's garbage because if you use it or anything waterless you will induce swirls into the paint. it's garbage because it's extremely high in silicon which will give a hell of a gloss but quickly disappear making the paint look worse than before the application.it's garbage because it will provide very little, if any, protection against the elements.

Ah I see. That also seems to go along with things I've read. Well I ain't about to jack up the paint on my bike. So, on to other things, anyone want to buy a can of FW1 waterless wash/wax? Cleans and shines just about everything!
2/21/2011 8:17:52 PM
lol. take it as a $15 lesson and throw it in the trash.

Honestly, its likely just fine. Just use it as a "booster" for your current wax and not as a standalone wax. For example, wax your car normally, then put the spray on after every other wash. It wont hurt anything, just add protection. Just make sure you use the right towels and dont spray it on a dirty surface (like they do).

Flat black powder coat and you dont have to worry about this shit!!!!

That shit reminds me 100% of Honda polish, shit you can get from the honda motorcycle dealers.

Guy tried to sell me 2 for 25 said that's the best he could do...got him to give me one for 10. He looked like I'd just punched his mother but I wasn't about to drop $25 on some shit I'd never heard of

^$10 for a spray type wax is typical. Use it, it wont hurt anything. Just DONT use it as advertised. Do not use it to clean the bike, wash it manually first. Then afterwards use this product to boost up a current wax, or just to add a quick shine. Its just a product that is loaded down with silicones and polymers, adds a quick shine. It wont hurt anything at all. Its nothing I would ever buy myself, but if you already bought it why not use it?

the only reason i'm hesitant now is because i read some random review where the guy thought it had dulled his paint over time (though he wasn't sure), and underPSI saying basically the same thing. as long as it doesnt do any damage that rubbing compound and wax can't overcome, i'll use it after a wash

You have to remember, most of the reviews on the internet are given by people who are pissed with the product. There should be nothing in that product that will dull the paint. Now using the wrong wash materials and towels will do that.Edit: I just pulled the MSDS sheet on it, it just has isoparrafins petrolium hydrotreated and petrolium distillates. Those 2 ingredients are pretty much standard for most cheaper waxes. Nothing that should cause much harm if used correctly.[Edited on February 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Reason : .]

awesome, thanks for the info...while we're on the subject, any specific recommendations for wax and chrome polish?

Local available wax I like Duragloss #105 or #101 (sealant, easy to use, durable), S100 available from Harley Dealerships, and Autoglym HD available on clearance at most walmarts for $20.Online, you have a few more options. Optimum, Pinnacle, Four Star etc. Go to http://www.autogeek.net and check out what they have. Carnubas generally look nicer on darker colors but have little durability. Sealants look great on all colors, and generally last much longer and are easier to apply. Neither will look good over a crappy surface (swirls, scratches, spots etc) so make sure to clay/polish beforehand.Chrome Polish, I like Zephyr available from Majestic Solutions in Raleigh over on 64.
