Are these groups supposed to be even? I don't follow cricket but B looks a hell of a lot tougher than A.

Are you supposed to bounce the ball in the dirt when you pitch?[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 9:40 PM. Reason : /]

2/17/2011 9:47:01 PM
^^yes, if you don't bounce it, it is considered an easy one and it will be easily hit.
2/17/2011 10:00:44 PM
^^ how about you google that shit

2011 IRB Rugby World Cup > 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.I tried reading the rules to cricket on the internet one time and it seems to be very confusing compared to the rules of most sports.

btw, if anyone is feeling all cosmopolitan and multicutural, i recommend the movie "Leghan". Its part musical but the last part of it is a rudy-type story about how "darkies" (indians) and "farenghis" (the british) had an epic cricket match, must see!

its lagaan!

Looks like India is going to take out Pakistan. Pakistan's required run rate at 38 overs is 8. They're toast.
3/30/2011 12:08:56 PM
Home advantage working so far, even though the game is close to the Pakistani border.
3/30/2011 12:10:20 PM
Looking forward to India/Sri Lanka

India with a 96% chance to win now according to ESPNcricinfo

World Cup FinalIndia vs Sri LankaApril 2nd at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Why are they using the smallest capacity ground of those in India for the final?
3/30/2011 1:26:08 PM
pretty good match today... Pakistani fielding was like clownshoes and their middle batting was... clownshoes.first match ive ever watched end to end. If they want cricket to be more popular it can't last an entire day.
3/30/2011 7:19:06 PM
That's why there is Twenty20 cricket. Matches last about the same length as football game.

Sri Lanka put up 274.Sachin putting the team on his back as we speak..

How can the ESPNcricinfo have India with a 72% win likelihood even though their current RR is lower than what they need to win?

If the ball rolls and hits the boundary, a raised edge around the pitch, it's worth 4 runs. If it goes flies over the boundary, like a home run in baseball, it counts as 6.
4/2/2011 11:51:29 AM
India picking up the offensive pace, but its still a tough task to get that 70-some runs in 70-some bowls
4/2/2011 12:24:11 PM
seems to me like they're on pace for it, unless something goes wrong. gambhir has been solid for awhile now and dhoni is picking it up, too. for awhile right after murali came in the indians went cold, but they just seem to be improving right now.[Edited on April 2, 2011 at 12:35 PM. Reason : j]

4/2/2011 12:40:35 PM
dangit, just short of the century
4/2/2011 12:42:26 PM
and dhoni just earned his captain's knock with that 6.
4/2/2011 12:50:16 PM
homerun bitches!
4/2/2011 12:51:30 PM
we win this and i shall commence the day-drinking
4/2/2011 12:53:45 PM
we'll also be seeing the batting powerplay used in the next few overs, which should help seal the deal.
4/2/2011 12:56:07 PM
they've got to use it now i think. save it for the very end and you end up taking too many risky swings... risky not in terms of losing wickets, sice we have a lot to give, but risky in terms of quality....close call, just like baseball runner gets the safe when in doubt
4/2/2011 12:57:33 PM
i think this will come down to fours. if india pick up a couple in these last five, it's over. otherwise, it's going to be really tight.
4/2/2011 1:00:25 PM
ya. finally power play
4/2/2011 1:01:49 PM
game over. based on the game he was having, kulasekara shouldn't have been in this spot anyway. before these two fours, he had already given up 6 other fours today.
4/2/2011 1:11:31 PM
nice 4, but it aint over until the fat auntie sings
