Think Big, Think Small, Think Beyond.HP webOS 2.1 is here! Along with it's introduction are new devices, a tiny phone, a larger Pre, and a tablet. This is a good day. Hopefully they get the devices out very soon!Think Beyond Live Blog: http://www.precentral.net/hp-palm-thinkbeyond-liveblogPictures from: http://www.flickr.com/photos/webosroundup[Edited on February 9, 2011 at 2:18 PM. ha, that was pretty nifty when he tapped the Pre 3 against the Touchpad and the site transfered to the phone

Yeah, this is pretty outstanding, the interaction between webOS devices is like butter. I'm stoked!

Sync'd music collections eh? Heard that one before.

This kind of interaction where a phone and a tablet coexist seamlessly is what I've been looking for. Whoever nails it down will get my dollars, and I will switch carriers to make it happen if necessary. Also, I'm not paying for 2 data connections, nor am I paying for wifi jazz. Bluetooth->phone->network. I'm not going anywhere without my phone, use it's freaking data connection without having to broadcast a wifi signal to all 500 people in the airport. But the ability to get tired of looking at something on my little phone screen and seamlessly switch to the tablet and keep doing the same thing is what i freaking need.Blackberry playbook also seems to be gravitating to this way too - the phone/tablet synergy is the only real way to topple apple and galaxy tab at this point in the game.

I hope this takes off. I've always had a soft spot for WebOS even though I've never owned it.
2/9/2011 2:50:08 PM
yeah, I always thought WebOS was the best UI and had a ton of potential but just didn't have the hardware to back it up but it looks like it's going in the right direction now that HP has control

I love webOS. As a recent palm pre user, I'm pretty excited for them to grow. If I do ever feel the need for a tablet, this HP one is my leading choice.

is it summer yet?

I wish. It's time to upgrade my phone, time to buy a tablet, and apparently time to be patient just a bit longer.I may or may not be in the EAP and may or may not be looking forward to playing with webOS 3.0 SDK soon.[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 1:24 PM. Reason : .]

I hope they've done some major work since the pre. That was a huge let down for me...The biggest issue I see with all these new devices isn't that they cant do all these amazing things. Its that they can't really multi-task well because of hardware that can't keep up with what the software is trying to do. And when it is struggling to do all these things it KILLS the battery. With my pre 1 and with the Epic I had they both had lots of potential but when you wanted to use something it would kill your battery and bring the phone to a crawl and lag at everything it did.I wish they would make a device that could do certain things and then test it and make sure it could keep up with the promises it makes. I hope they can figure that out before they try and make it do even more.

overclocking mine pre did wonders...they aren't sending webOS 2 to the first generation pre's.. fucking gay[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 3:22 PM. Reason : and sprint seems to be done with them :|]

I personally like WebOS way more than Android. Why does Android get so much more attention?
2/28/2011 1:12:35 AM
usability wise i think webos is lightyears ahead of android or ios but the wrong group developed it

Damnit. Ah well, and so goes technology.

what sense does it make to bail on a ship you've sunk 1.2bil + dev costs on?

what sense does it make to spend tens of millions per year developing a product that you cannot sell more than 25k of ??

unlike Symbian, this OS was showing lots of promise. i would have switched to webOS before Android. RIP.

When Nokia drops Symbian completely and switches to WP7 they will probably get a huge boost overseas. Especially if the rumors of a coming WP7 build for inexpensive phones is true.

so they're open source now. I really doubt companies like LG, Samsung, Asus, Motorola, etc who have already produced hardware/platforms around Android are going to pick it up.[Edited on December 9, 2011 at 4:30 PM. Reason : ]
