Is it possible? I've tried everything and i can't seem to get it to work. I have files shared from all my other pcs but i can't get it to them from OSX. Any ideas ? Should i get rid of the homegroup crap and set it up the old fashioned way (will it let me?) Thanks, Foo1

There is no way to do this. If you want OSX sharing, you're gonna have to use Samba with the old netbios file sharing. You don't have to get rid of homegroup to do this, they can operate SxS, but it's a giant pain in the ass.Honestly you're better off keeping the homegroup setup, and installing Windows Live Sync on one PC and on your Mac to handle file sharing/sync.

homegroups are normal shares with a library layer on top. The standard shares are accessable from any normal SMB client (including osx) but the library stuff is only gonna be available to homegroups computers.Ex: you have your videos library on compA that contains d:\videos and e:\videos. You share that library. CompB is in the homegroup and can see the Videos library on CompA. ez pz homegroups ftw. Alternatively you should be able to get to d:\videos via one share (probably \\compA\videos) and e:\videos via another share (prop \\compA\videos2)open a command prompt and do net share. It will list all the shares on your comp and what directories they mount to. smb://compname/sharename is what you want to use on the mac. you will probably want to configure a user account with a password for the mac to use. You will need to give that user access to the files (not share access mind you, windows file security access). Alternatively if you are lazy just give "Everyone" (no quotes) access to the files.

\extreme lazy mode: right click your folder you wanna share w/ the mac. Click share w/ ->specific people. Choose Everyone from the drop down -> click add. Select privs. done.

I've never had a problem with sharing files from OS X to Windows (XP/Vista/7) and vice versa. ^ Shut the fuck up.
