please list the lies here, i bet you all aren't even watching. no lies yet.
1/25/2011 9:33:17 PM
No lies yet? He equated Facebook to the Wright Brothers...
1/25/2011 9:35:11 PM
no, those two things were in a long list of things that americans have inventednot a lie[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 9:36 PM. Reason : .]
1/25/2011 9:35:56 PM
John Boner seems to have clapping confused with the jerk-off motion.
1/25/2011 9:36:29 PM
You really think Facebook is important enough to go on a list with automobiles, computers, Edison and the Wright brothers? Ok.Or how about this: a million electric cars will be on the roads by 2015. Do you think that's attainable?[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 9:39 PM. Reason : ]
1/25/2011 9:37:15 PM
^Yes
1/25/2011 9:38:53 PM
its only a lie if facebook wasn't created by an american, as soon as a transcript is available i am going to pwnt you. facebook is certainly worth mentioning, look how much money that shit is worth. plus they employ a bunch of people. plus its become such a part of society that a movie was made about it.
1/25/2011 9:39:39 PM
the state of the union in modern times is mostly about what they will do, there isn't much opportunity to lie (unless you can travel through time into the future and check)
1/25/2011 9:41:15 PM
^ a movie was made about it /thread
1/25/2011 9:41:17 PM
I'm not arguing he didn't say it in a list of things invented by Americans... I'm saying it's not on the same scale as the others. And if you google it, the phrase is already well documented, you shouldn't need a transcript to read the words, or the meaning behind them.Edit: And your idea that it's not a lie because it hasn't happened is ridiculous. How far in advance does it have to be? Doesn't reasonableness matter at all, or is it all smoke and mirrors to make you nod and smile at all the great things America's going to become if we pass his budget?[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 9:44 PM. I think it is more than just what rbr-whatnot said. There is a societal shift that has been going on for a while, facebook was not the catalyst but it was definitely the rocket fuel that put social networking as an invention of modern day society.
1/25/2011 9:41:30 PM
some of you need to google a definition for "lie" and by "some of you" i'm mostly looking at the one person who doesn't know what it means
1/25/2011 9:45:39 PM
Things that you say will happen in the future can certainly be lies if you don't really intend to do them or if they are unrealistic. I'm not saying that all Obama's promises are lies though, just that it isn't impossible as you say.
1/25/2011 9:47:42 PM
he hasn't said anything thats not possible, and none of us can know intentions (hence my call for time travel)

1/25/2011 9:57:15 PM
Did you click on the link? You'll have to read, because it's a constantly updating feed. So, not sure if that's the best option for you. I can wait and post the "Fact Check" link tomorrow if you'd like to put forth minimal effort.
1/25/2011 9:58:37 PM
yeah i didn't see anything except a pie chart^that would be a really boring drinking game if i had to wait till tomorrow to take a drink. post them now, i've got a fridge full of cold ones and nothing to do till tomorrow. [Edited on January 25, 2011 at 10:01 PM. Reason : .]
1/25/2011 9:59:29 PM
Did you click on the text box to the right? Honestly, you can't figure this out?
1/25/2011 10:03:40 PM
all i see on that site is a link to youtube coverage, a pie chart, and a twitter feed. are you talking about the twitter feed, because no i didn't read those. i don't do twitter. i'm a staunch republican who has disagreed with more than a few things he's said, but i wouldn't call any of them lies.[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 10:06 PM. Reason : i'm just calling you out for having a ridiculous position on the facebook statement]
1/25/2011 10:06:12 PM
Yes, some of them are gay
1/25/2011 10:07:09 PM
No, I'm not talking about the twitter feed. It's above the twitter feed, on the right, and includes fact checking commentary from reporters and others from CQ Roll Call, the National Journal, the Center for Public Integrity and the Huffington Post (in bold) and guest comments (in smaller blue font).
1/25/2011 10:07:22 PM
i don't see anything above twitter except for the banner at the top, and now i am not link digging. post them here, i'd rather not have to wait till i watch fox in the morning.
1/25/2011 10:09:16 PM
looked like a bunch of opinions to me
1/25/2011 10:10:00 PM
Not going to do your work for you, sorry. I've already walked you through it step by step.
1/25/2011 10:10:26 PM
except for anecdotes there haven't really been many facts, so its kinda hard to tell a lie
1/25/2011 10:10:44 PM
are you talking about the cover it live thing?
1/25/2011 10:12:14 PM
i'm using chrome, maybe it doesn't work in chrome
1/25/2011 10:13:05 PM
If you're talking to me--yes, that's what I'm referring to. It's got regular people commentary mixed in with fact checking/historical commentary. And here's your full text: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/25/obama-state-of-the-union-_1_n_813478.html

1/25/2011 10:18:17 PM
i was talking about you
1/25/2011 10:18:43 PM
Oh, I'm not a he. And I'm a flag-in-my-lapel wearing American I just don't think Facebook is near the scale of Edison or the Wright brothers, or automobiles, or personal computers. Disagree with me if you'd like, but I think it was a poor choice to highlight.[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 10:20 PM. Reason : ]
1/25/2011 10:19:32 PM
i disagree, which apparently means you are a telling a lie[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 10:21 PM. Reason : i pwnted this thread so hard, as promised]
1/25/2011 10:20:41 PM
You're right. I don't have a flag in my lapel. I don't even have a lapel.
1/25/2011 10:21:28 PM
i'd say hes equating Facebook to Google, not necessarily to the Wright brothers
