I am about to drive from Norfolk, VA to Seattle, WA. I was curious to what the best route is. i know i can possibly do it in 5 days, but im taking 9 days to do it. I ask because all the suggested routes are northern routes, and with the weather the way it is...i dont think that is a good idea. So im looking for a good southern route. Any Suggestions? Thanks,Steven

^^^got tired of sitting around in Norfolk, VA so i just left. they are letting me move into my apt earlier than planned, so i dont care...too bad my furniture wont be here till the 10th haha

I may be moving across country soon. How much did they charge you to ship your furniture. I don't have enough stuff to warrant a full moving truck. The only thing I'd really like to take is my Cal King Bed and frame. Then I just have some small kitchen things and personal items like clothes and bathroom things.

Made the drive from Raleigh to Seattle back in 2003. Took I-90 end to end and a week after we arrived they shut it down through SD due to too much snow on the roads...in October. I think we ended up taking 5 days but spent the better part of a day sightseeing in Chicago, visited the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, etc.

if you only have a bed, it's going to probably be cheaper to just buy a new one when you get there

^ This I know. I was just curious.

^Get a uhaul trailer - $25 to take your stuff cross country. If your car doesn't have a hitch, they'll install one for roughly $200. Any car bigger than a civic can haul a small trailer.

Or you can contact a moving company, and they'll throw your stuff on a truck with someone else's things. Your partition of things will take longer to get to you, so you need to plan way in advance, but you won't have to pay the full fee because you're sharing space with someone else.
