WHYYYYY do teachers not use google calendar. it would be so much easier than sending out a syllabus in a word document. I would love any teacher that would allow me to subscribe to a google calendar and not worry about typing in every assignment.

From my own experience, many professors barely know how to use Wolfware. Maybe you could look into finding an "import calendar items" for your Google Calendar

Cut instructors a little slack. The university mandated and supported class room tools like wolfware, vista, moodle, etc... seem the change every other semester. It's hard to refine your online classroom tools when they're constantly changing. That being said, good instructors should be open to reasonable suggestions.

Most instructors I know haven't updated their online stuff in over a decade. It's like they made a webpage when the internet got big and then... really didn't have a reason to return to it.

Right now all faculty and staff calendars are in Groupwise/Wolfwise, not Google Calendar. This may change in the future since everyone is eventually getting moved to Gmail but in the meantime, that's at least part of the reason.
