I looked for a thread to post this in, but didn't find anything relevant...I bought a 54" Panasonic Viera 1080p Plasma several months ago. Everything seems to work great on the TV, except that during watching tv, it will blackout every once in a while. It is only a split second, but the screen goes black and then right back on, like a blink. It will do this maybe a couple times per evening. The sound doesn't seem to be affected. At first I thought it was doing it only on shows being watched from the DVR, but I have since ruled that out and it does it during any tv. I don't watch enough DVD's to know if it does it with them. Overall, it is not bad enough to be that annoying, but I would like to know what the problem is.A bit of background. When I installed the TV, I already had the power cord from my old 42" LCD Vizio ran through the wall, so instead of switching cords, I just plugged the vizio cord into the Panasonic...don't know if that would cause a problem.

Are you running through any type of receiver? I occasionally have this problem but its due to my receiver freaking out because the cable box sends it something shitty. Usually if I turn the box on and off or switch channels and back it will stop doing it.

time warner cable box with dvr is all.... also, it only does it maybe once every hour or so, therefore it is not really a problem where I could change channels and/or restart the box and know if it helped

^I actually have the opposite problem with my Time Warner dvr box. The sound will blink out for about a second, but the picture is unaffected. It happens about the same frequency as yours seems to.

kinda sounds like some hdcp shenanigans

^x2 . if it's not that the only other thing i could think of is that many og the newer plasmas in order to artificially inflate CR numbers will turn off when there is a mostly or all black image displayed. if it's happening randomly this probably isn't to blame.

I would try the cord, I had a similar issue with a shitty HDMI cord, also these time warner boxes are complete shit so it could be that to, got my panasonic viera 46 inch and love it, the tv itself never gives me any trouble.
