I've had teh same cell number for a while now and keep getting a call for some guy who is not me. This has been going on since 2005. I'm not sure if they are dialing the wrong number by accident constantly, or the guy gave them the wrong number, or the guy used to have my number before me, and since changed it and I got the old number and these people haven't updated their systemAnyways, its the democratic party in charlottesville VA where I used to live always calling asking for this same guy and every time I tell them they have the wrong number and to take me off their calling list. I've asked to speak to supervisors, gotten angry, been nice, everything I can think of and they keep calling. They dont have a caller ID as its listed as private number otherwise I'd block it with the phone company. I've tried ignoring them but they keep calling back every day until I answer the phone. Once I answer and tell them to stop calling, they usually stop, and then a few months later the phone starts ringing again. Is there anything I can do? Can I get their information and call the police w/it? I really don't want to change my phone number over this, and they always say they've taken my number off the list but then some time goes by and its the same thing all over again. It's extremely annoying

If you have asked them to stop calling you, document it once more, record it (tell them you are recording it) and call the cops, FCC, and maybe your local election board. And call your phone company. They can always block a number. Private numbers are never private.

Get a part-time job at your phone company. Problem solved.

get a whistle or other really loud/obnoxious noise maker and use it every time they call.

^ yep, just use it as a green light to be a complete dick.start trying to have phone sex with whoeever's on the other end of the line.

Just tell them everytime they call you're going to vote for a republican.

Honestly I realize how much this sucks and how annoying it is, but if it is only once every few months, picking up the phone and telling them to not call you anymore might lose you 10 minutes in a year.I don't know how successful you will be blocking the number either... it sounds like it might be from multiple numbers.I have multiple people calling me every year asking for a Melissa Beverly. I think I am just going to start telling them that she recently passed away.

Start fucking with them. If it doesn't stop, at least have fun with it.Get your phone number changed. Shouldn't cost you anything but your time to do that, and the inconvinience of updating others who you want knowing your new number.

All of my wrong number calls are from people speaking Spanish

There was a good website by a guy who sues companies that don't honor his requests to be removed from their call list. If you can document each one after you request to be removed - you can basically get something like ~$500 per call from them easily. He gives all documentation to do it yourself too... someone here will post it.

they probably have you in multiple databases and you more or less won't be able to get them to stop calling you

Instead of waiting and responding to them, maybe go more proactive and call up someone who knows what they're doing:http://www.cvilledems.org/contact.phpI'd start with someone on the right side of the screen, probably the secretary.Making calls is one of the lowest level things for untrained volunteers to do, just slightly above stuffing envelopes and putting up campaign signs, and below canvassing. They probably aren't working with any official database, they are probably working with a printout or copy of an excel sheet, and the most they know to do is cross your number off a sheet of paper. I know that I volunteered, interned, and worked with several campaigns before getting a password to access a NC Dem voter database.Hopefully if you call or e-mail someone who actually knows what they're doing, they can access any official databases, look up whatever name it is, and remove your phone number.

I have this old woman who has been calling me since I got my cell number in '01. I think she's trying to get in touch with an old friend and she wrote the number down wrong and instead she gets me. She always calls me during a major holiday- thanksgiving, xmas and easter are the usual times and then there's a day in July (which I think is her friend's birthday). Every time I have to tell her that she has the wrong number and then I wish her a happy holiday and she always chuckles and says "ooooh did I dial this number wrong?" This past holiday season was the first time she didn't call... I was kind of sad.

i've had a wrong number call me for the past 2 years. It's some old senile lady who i believe is speaking english, but i can't understand cause it is such a southern accent. If I call back, her daughter who takes care of her answers and is no help. I ended up putting the number in my phone as 'WRONG NUMBER' so i don't have to answer it.I asked Verizon to block the number and they said they can't block numbers.
