They will lynch Les Miles if he pulls some of the shit he does if they lose.
1/10/2011 9:43:28 PM
Is Shoelaces still there? I haven't heard anything about him since September.
1/10/2011 9:43:46 PM
Yep, still there.
1/10/2011 9:48:35 PM
les miles would be stupid to leave LSU. i can't blame a guy for returning to his alma mater, especially when it's a program like michigan, but i don't think there's any way that he can do as well there as he has at LSU given how bad of a coach he is. michigan recruits well, but not like LSU.

Scout.com Recruiting Class Rankings2010UM - 12LSU - 72009UM - 14LSU - 32008UM - 6LSU - 72007UM - 10LSU - 52006UM - 9LSU - 72005UM - 2LSU - 192004UM - 5LSU - 22003UM - 8LSU - 22002UM - 19LSU - 15Avg.UM - 9.44LSU - 7.44Okay edge LSU, but it's not like they are blowing them away in the recruiting rankings. It's not like LSU is always bringing in top 5 classes and Michigan is always bringing in fringe top 25 classes.
1/10/2011 10:06:22 PM
well first of all, those numbers are questionable b/c both UM and LSU are bigtime football names, and these rankings are based on player evaluations, which are often based on offers.but rankings aside, you can't recruit a team full of fast, strong guys at UM like you can at LSU.i'd be interested to see D1 prospects out of louisiana vs. michigan. i know those numbers exist but i can't find them right now.[Edited on January 10, 2011 at 10:18 PM. Reason : i'm not saying LSU has more prestige than UM, i'm talking about the talent nearby.]
1/10/2011 10:17:46 PM
but simonn... the big ten does not need the recruits that the SEC does....
1/10/2011 10:39:07 PM
but les miles cannot win football games w/o fast players. his gameplan is screen pass all fucking day.
1/10/2011 10:41:26 PM
Michigan relies heavily on Ohio for their players. Both Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson are Ohio natives.
1/11/2011 12:31:55 AM
When does the new Stadium thread come out?
1/11/2011 12:35:04 AM
well the next couple days will, or could, put a lot of information into this thread... being that the "source" close to Miles says he will accept if offered reasonable termsas a fan, i would be happy to have him... not saying he will be a guaranteed success... but i think its a successful hire
1/11/2011 12:40:24 AM
^ agreed... UM could do a lot worse for this hire. Les was lucky to inherit a good LSU team from Saban... if he takes over I hope he can complete more of a turnaround job at UM.
1/11/2011 7:51:10 AM
If he leaves LSU fans can blame themselves. They were about to throw him under the bus despite the fact he just kept on winning and had a great season with a team that wasnt all that great especially offensively most of the year. Cant blame him for leaving when LSU fans have such high expectations and after the past few years UM would be extremely happy with a 10 win season.
1/11/2011 8:14:15 AM
go ahead and chalk up an L for your regular season finale.
1/11/2011 10:28:17 AM
I think this would be a huge hire for Michigan. Way better than whoever is the next name on the list. Hes a big name who can bring in big time recruits, he has been able to compete year in and year out in the SEC, so even if he doesnt build as good of a program in Michigan, he should have a lot more success than RichRod
1/11/2011 10:35:58 AM
the problem for whoever they hire is going to be re-building the roster to a bigger, more traditional team. Rodriguez brought in a bunch of smaller, speedy guys who don't necessarily excel at their positions, they're just solid athletes.
1/11/2011 10:52:01 AM
i love the buckeye input... and you KNOW we deserve better than the shit richrod has put us through
1/11/2011 12:30:18 PM
les miles to remain at lsu apparently.[Edited on January 11, 2011 at 12:42 PM. Reason : (heard listening to cowherd)]
1/11/2011 12:39:23 PM
^^agreed. As I've said before, I want Michigan to be a powerhouse again, quite frankly, I only want them to lose 1 game a year.
1/11/2011 1:09:30 PM
^ +1
1/11/2011 2:55:58 PM
Hoke is a good hire
1/11/2011 4:20:57 PM
Would you say it's Tenuta level good?
1/11/2011 5:10:57 PM
Holy shit Michigan's scout message board blinded me
1/11/2011 5:18:57 PM
this is a good hire too... not saying its a guarantee for success once again... but a good hire...defensive minded coach with a spread offense that could keep denard around
1/11/2011 5:53:57 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6015156Gets teary. THIS is what we need. Passion.
1/12/2011 4:05:59 PM
^^ Hiring a coach to keep a player from leaving is about the dumbest thing imaginable. Clemson did that with jackass Dabo to keep Spiller from going pro and they are already starting to regret it. WVU did it Stewart in order to help keep Devine around IIRC.[Edited on January 12, 2011 at 4:12 PM. Reason : k]

Forcier's gone. Not a huge loss, and his ass might have been ineligible anyway. Still not good to lose players. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6015733
1/12/2011 6:57:44 PM
^ yea, especially with Denard's play style... very likely he could get hurt and UM would need a competent backup...add me to the group of Hoke supporters, seems like the right choice.
1/12/2011 8:35:45 PM
^^^ This thread is called Michigan Football 2011. Better luck next time with teh poasting, though!

1/13/2011 12:25:49 AM
Its true Geeetar....Devin's there, just not as sold on his passing abilities yet. At least with Forcier in there, you could be assured the offense would still function. So far Devin's been more of a "wildcat" option except in the Bowling Green game where he threw it 10 times.
1/13/2011 7:26:32 AM
oh true. i know passing was not there like... AT ALL for him last season but... he has a year to improve so i have faith he will be a competent backup
1/13/2011 11:49:05 AM
Hoke is not going to beat tressel.
1/13/2011 5:58:33 PM
^ why not?maybe with the new conference alignment UM will play OSU in the first 5 games next year.... Denard to stay!
1/14/2011 7:22:00 AM
^they've said regardless of alignment, OSU-Mich will be the reg. season finale for each.
1/14/2011 9:48:19 AM
aww... RR is sad http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6021253
1/14/2011 1:44:24 PM
he should keep some of that stuff in case Laney high school decides to hire him.
1/14/2011 1:46:47 PM
all RR's staff is getting hired in other places, this guy is done
1/14/2011 7:20:16 PM
not a chance, he'll get a job somewhere. maybe not next season, but he'll definitely get hired again.
1/14/2011 7:33:41 PM
yea at very least RR is a shoe-in for OC somewhere, but i'd be very surprised if he didn't land another HC gig.
1/15/2011 1:17:04 AM
Mattison to Michigan!!! What a pick up... getting excited.
1/18/2011 10:57:22 PM
I still hate Michigan but that is a good pick up
1/18/2011 11:16:53 PM
still no talent on defense but i'd bet a lot mattison and hoke will make a lot more out of it than richrod and greg robinson's pathetic selves did
1/19/2011 8:09:11 AM
Not sure if this was posted elsewhere yet, but figured this was the thread for it;
2/2/2011 1:40:44 PM

Gotta love Hoke coaching against SDSU in wk.4.I don't know that 8-4 is delusional. 10-2 would be, but I think the Ws and Ls you have there seem pretty reasonable. Northwestern and MSU back to back on the road won't be easy, and I wouldn't be shocked if they both were losses. With such a different mindset from Hoke as opposed to DickRod, I could see some early stumbles. I think absolute worst case is 5-7, and were I pressed to guess, I'd say 7-5.
