Looks like Pandora is slowly converting all of its listeners into hipsters.
1/9/2011 3:56:21 PM
Only hipsters don't have enough culture to discover out new music on their ownsI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

why does it matter where it comes from? a lot of people like those artists i listed, and i just hear about them really late. seriously?
1/9/2011 10:14:26 PM
because they were around for probably 20 years before pandora, if not more and were really well known[Edited on January 9, 2011 at 10:17 PM. Reason : d]
1/9/2011 10:17:32 PM
1. i didn't find them on pandora. 2. i'd never heard of them until the show house. 20 years ago i was 8 & my first real musical preference was tool. 3. so what??[Edited on January 9, 2011 at 10:19 PM. Reason : ]
1/9/2011 10:18:32 PM
sorry, were around 20+ years before House
1/9/2011 10:20:22 PM
shark quest is an interesting one, just because they're localthe massive attack thing is a little shameful, though
1/9/2011 10:24:58 PM
lol i really don't understand why you people care so much. if you're trying to make me feel bad for some reason, it's not going to work. i don't care. i like the one song that is in the house intro thing & didn't hear it until then. the end.
1/9/2011 10:27:00 PM
not trying to make you feel bad, its just odd because everyone I knew listened to them all the damn time... especially when Tricky got big and was all over the place for about 3 years and that led more people back to Massive Attack
1/9/2011 10:28:34 PM
if you were younger i'd understand, but you and i are the same age and mezzanine was right in my fucking wheelhouse

This thread is also a pretty good example of why no one who uses the word hipster knows what the fuck they're talking aboutBands that are in damn car commercials are getting labeled hipster musicJack Kerouac called Neal Cassady a hipster in 1950 and I bet he wasn't talking about fucking Band of Horses
1/9/2011 10:50:12 PM
my musical tastes have changed a lot since i was young. i've hung on to tool though. i would not have liked bands like massive attack back then. that type was not my cup of tea.
1/9/2011 11:09:21 PM
maybe you should give up on tool and move on to something worthwhile
1/9/2011 11:10:15 PM
nope. never.
1/9/2011 11:13:22 PM
I, too, was surprised when "the house theme song" was played on my pandora station. Music retardation or my young age, I would of never known it was massive attack.[Edited on January 9, 2011 at 11:32 PM. Reason : V ifify]

found the greatest jukebox ever here in Atlanta... quarter plays and they have everything. For example, four Richard Hell/The Voidoids albums
1/10/2011 12:32:30 AM
but only two of the hell albums are worth listening toin similar news, i found an original copy of blank generation today
1/10/2011 12:45:10 AM
I dont even like him that much, but just the fact that they have 4 of his albums on there blows my mind

^use your phone! yeah for all the pandora haters, when it discovers songs/bands i haven't heard of, it's when i'm lazy and dabbling into genres i barely know, pandora does a pretty decent job of playing good shit i haven't heard of.it's also really good at pulling random live versions of classics i've never heard. i hadn't heard any of the led zeppelin bbc sessions
1/10/2011 1:44:20 AM
there was a tremendous amount of press when the zep bbc stuff came out on cdi own that shit, and i'm not huge on zepalso jukeboxes should only have 45s in them; although i respect the ability to pull deep cuts, quality b-sides are just as good, if not betterthe only pandora station i've ever really liked is based on "cut yr hair" by pavementthat station has never played a song i didn't like
1/10/2011 2:00:27 AM
^i was 7 when they came out brosef.

I didn't learn about Massive Attack until the group was featured in one of the Pure Moods albums; also some other artists may come to mind but I thought "Walking on Air" by Kerli was good after it showed up.
