I need a boom box that can fit in a boombox and put out some serious juice. Must be found at a local store suggestions?

Fuck walmart. I've seen bookbags that had built in boom box's like so many of you helpful folk have pointed out. But, not sure of the sound output on these units

i dont know if you are looking for something that is battery powered or not, and whether an ipod conncetion would be of a benefit, but Memorex came up with a whole line of portable ipod stuff that is reasonably priced (still overpriced a bit like everything else that works with ipods). Maybe something liek this will work for you? it is available at BestBuy. Does it need to play while it is IN your backpack? Cause that would probasby muffle the sound a bit.
