There is a total lunar eclipse early Tuesday morning. Total from 2:40am - 3:53am with the greatest eclipse at 3:17am. Its probably too late/early, but is anyone going to try to catch it?

First year since AD 1378 that a lunar eclipse coincides with the winter solstice.

I think it would probably be best for me to head out to the end of a pier to watch it, far away from lights...or some random place on the beach.

Wish I had a camera that I could adjust the exposure on so I can get a good picture of it.

Yeah, definitely far from city lights, and the moon will be to the west so don't head east

I'm going to try somewhere off 401 south of raleigh/garner or jordan lake, but that depends on if its cloudy.

I'm going to try and photograph it but the biggest lens i have is a 55-200mm. The moon will look rather small in that lens...

I'm going to try and rig it and hold the binoculars up to the camera

might not be as dramatic but you should be able to easily see the whole thing (barring clouds)

I'm quite a ways west of Durham, and while it was visible earlier now there's just a vague spot in the sky that brighter than the others. I may give it one more shot but frankly it's looking like a no-go here.
