anyone find it annoying when they increase the allotted seats for a class like 1 month after registration begins, like for some classes i wanted they randomely increased it by 5 or by 20 seats, without so much as giving a notice, so if you don't look at the right time you won't get in the class, rediculous, if they are gonna increase the seats why couldn't they just start off that # of seats? that way the people who deserved to get in when it was their time to register could. i mean at least leave a note or something on the page saying the class might increase seats

Did the classes room number change at the time? I've heard of professors pushing to have rooms changed from the ones they were assigned when it doesn't meet their needs for the class. Although I don't know if that is the case here. I agree that it seems pretty nonsensical otherwise. Its been a long time since I've had to fight with the built in stupidities that comes with course registration. One of the perks of grad school is that you don't have to fight over seats any more, and class sizes aren't huge.

nope, no room change, e.g. eng 246-lit of holcaust, that when i wanted to sign up ? it was 35 seats, now its 41 or something, but in the same room. basically they are purposely screwing the upperclassmen by opening the seats at a later time, even though they knew it is a popular class, a lot of people are gonna sign up and they will probably increase the seats, samething they did with a philosophy class

If you had put yourself on the waitlist you would have been automatically added.[Edited on December 13, 2010 at 10:46 PM. Reason : grammar FTL]

dude the waitlist was full almost as soon as registration started and it was only 5 seats on it, and theres no way i'm gonna come back every morning to check if they increased the number of seats, they should have at least put notice somewhere or made the waitlist larger, obviously they knew they could increase the number of seats or at least waitlist, in the beggining, but didn't ? so why are they screwing people now?[Edited on December 13, 2010 at 11:14 PM. Why do you have such a sense of entitlement?
12/13/2010 11:18:49 PM
you must be joking... because its what registring for classes is about you simpletonupperclassman have more privilege when registrating but this defeats the purpose of that system eg. whats the point of allowing upperclassmen like myself to register earlier and then later just to let undeserving freshmen can get into a class by chance when they wake up one morning to find 5 new seats?

*looks at classicmixup's posts*i find it ironic that someone who spends the majority of their time posting in chit-chat has to worry about what happens in study hall. now i have actually spent a while posting in study hall unlike you. why dont you just go back to chit chat where you belong man? how hard is it to stop reading my posts and move on.back on topic, i am going to send an email to my advisor demanding to know why they would do this. if they told me earlier i could have gotten in the class because i would have checked more often. ill email registriation and records because this is unfair and goes against the credit hours requirement. they provide no notice of increasing seats . they are essentially giving freshmen the same chance to get into a class as a senior now, what pisses me off most is they wre doing this for classes of especially high demand. some people are graduating soon now they may never get a chance to take the class. it is like a lottery now, have to be at the right place at the right time[Edited on December 16, 2010 at 9:44 AM. You can always try the go the first day method to get prof approval to add the class too if nothing else works out. Often times there are more physical seats than are listed as available on the website, and if they see you sit through the first day of class and be engaged, and see that there are extra seats, you might have a shot that way.
12/16/2010 10:42:02 AM
yeah, but the problem with that is I've got a class I am taking at the same time as that one, that was the back up class for not geting into my first choice. theres ten people on the waitlist now too.
12/16/2010 10:55:23 AM
^^ Be sure to start your email "You Fucking Asshole" It will let the professor know you mean business and that they can't mess with you. Who the hell do they think they are you are a fucking senior!
12/16/2010 10:55:41 AM
I don't think he's a senior
