I need to find an equation for the area of this shape. I've broken the shape down into triangles but I need to be able to relate h1, h2, and L in terms of H. Is there enough information shown to do that?

can't you subtract away the triangles outside the polygon from the rectangle h1*cot(a) x H?

photobucket pulled the imagefail

Length times Width should do it. Looks just like a square with some photobucket crap on it.

1) Squares are also rectangles.2) It is 120px x 120 px, but on screen the sides are not equal in length.Either way, it is definitely a rectangle

Yeah I know what it is....Learn what a "rectangle" is, n00b

i know what the fucking definition of a rectangle isthis is a rectangle, but more specifically a square"omg it's a polygon!!111one rectangles are also polygons too!!2!"

Let's not go to extremes, ok?And relax dude, don't want to get an ulcer!

^^^the point was that if your monitor were at the native resolution then a 120x120 image would look like a squareand I have known what a rectangle is since elementary school, and that a square is a type of rectangle

0EPII1 is pretty dumb in this thread.

To me it looks like a square to me

This shit probably happens to him all the time - charging in hastily to correct people like a fucking know-it-all only to end up looking like a dumbass. He's probably so used to the sensation that he's numb to it.

ALKatraz probably deleted the image himself to avoid ridicule, once he realized how embarrassingly simple the trigonometry was to calculate the area.
