the Kinks are good -- and they get respect -- but they have nowhere *near* the creative output of either the Stones or the Beatles.

And *I don't really like the Stones or the Beatles much. Personally, I'd rather listen to the Kinks than either of them. But in music history, the Kinks are just a sentence or two.
