If I didn't hate running so much I would attempt this. If they ever come up with a Krispy Kreme biking challenge sign me up!

Wow, it's the 7th annual. I feel old now.[Edited on December 1, 2010 at 10:20 AM. Reason : also according to the countdown clock it starts at midnight]
12/1/2010 10:18:37 AM
I kinda wanna do thisBut I'm 99% sure id puke my soul out if I tried
12/1/2010 10:23:35 AM

Ahhh...I think I must start training for this. Keep a dozen down? I'd bet large sums of money. Hell, I can eat half a dozen in NO time, especially if they're hot.
12/1/2010 10:35:47 AM
If only this wasn't the day before I have to report to Ft. Lee...
12/1/2010 11:58:24 AM
look, if I can eat all 12, any of you bitches can do it. however, beating the hour mark...many of you bitches cannot.
12/1/2010 2:52:59 PM
I want to do this, but I have no desire to eat a dozen doughnuts, and I feel like a poser if I do the casual runner category.
12/1/2010 2:58:10 PM
i did it last year. i can't remember my time, but i think it was somewhere around 48 minutes.
12/1/2010 3:12:49 PM
Thanks for the reminder. Signed up.
12/1/2010 3:40:31 PM
i've been out of town the last few years so i have been looking forward to this year's event. i sure hope i can do it in an hour, but i can't even begin to guess how long it will take me to finish a dozen
12/1/2010 3:51:09 PM
there is an 8 year old registered as a challenger...can they eat a dozen doughnuts?
12/1/2010 4:07:17 PM
I've done this the past 3 years and can't seem to get my doughnut time below 25min. I've been smashing 3/4 together, folding them in half and dunking them in water, but i always hit a wall on the last set. Has anyone found a better strategy?
12/1/2010 4:07:46 PM
that was going to be my strategy
12/1/2010 5:51:08 PM
the key is to get rid of the icing. that's what fucks you, because you feel like going into diabetic shock after half a dozen. so dunk them in the water and then scrape as much icing off as you can that way. i split them in half when i did it because of the tiny cups. i would have gone faster but i only had two cups of water total. don't use the water for anything other than softening the icing to get rid of it.i think i finished them in about 6-8 minutes. the one time i practiced at home i did it in about 4, but there was plenty of water at home.
12/4/2010 5:11:32 AM
^^^ Same here. I've done it the past 2 years with times of 54 and 59 minutes (no puking) and have used the same method of 4 at-a-time. However, DO NOT try starving yourself the day/night before because this just shrinks your stomach size. Eat a regular dinner the night before and even though you might not FEEL hungry in the morning, you will be able to put all 12 down a lot easier.^ Good idea about splitting them in half. I just smashed the 4, folded them and tried to scrape off the icing dry.[Edited on December 4, 2010 at 8:31 AM. Reason : .]

I will be participating in the "not trying to do it in under an hour" group.

I honestly didn't see much until the last stretch from the IHOP to the belltowerSad I can't do it this year.
1/20/2011 1:11:50 PM
i will be eating all 12 donuts and running the race this year and I am VERY nervous about puking
1/20/2011 1:25:57 PM
Meh, I actually felt better after eating all 12
1/20/2011 3:09:53 PM
what is the route?
1/20/2011 8:45:38 PM
This will be my first time. It's actually my first time running any kind of race. I'm pretty nervous about puking as well. Really hope I make the time. How hectic is the doughnut eating station?
1/30/2011 10:04:44 PM
I'm tempted to enter this but as a casual runner. I don't like to run, but I'd totally walk/eat the 12/walk back as fast as I could.
1/30/2011 10:13:24 PM
i am planning on puking. have no problem with it. if i dont puke i will feel like i didnt push myself hard enough
1/30/2011 10:14:48 PM
^^Too late, my friend. Registration is closed to all but the "Supporter" category.

2/4/2011 10:59:56 PM

2/4/2011 11:10:30 PM
i haven't picked up my race packet. i'll probably be there at 6:30. i've never looked forward to something that i haven't looked forward to so much. it'll be my first time running this.
2/4/2011 11:36:02 PM
so i've got to get up in like 5 hours and take pictures at this shit. it starts at 8:30 right? Is that colored people time or white people time?
2/5/2011 3:08:32 AM
hopefully the weather won't be too bad tomorrow. i'm not running but the weather last year was similar to this. cold and rainy. blech.i wish i was running though. i love doughnuts. and running 2 miles and eating 12 doughnuts seems like an easy task compared to my last run (13.1 miles)anything involving eating i'm down foranything involving running.....................not so much p.s. my dad and his gf ran it last year and he was like "hey have you ever heard of the krispy kreme challenge" when he signed up. no dad, i just went to ncsu. i don't know what these things are.[Edited on February 5, 2011 at 3:30 AM. 2/5/2011 7:12:19 AM
They should make one where you eat 6 big macs and have to do a triathalonI'm astraladvent and I approved this message.
2/5/2011 8:50:42 AM
51 minutes. Whoop. I'm going to sleep.
2/5/2011 10:09:50 AM
1:11 here.and i only got through 8 donuts. i don't feel bad though since it was my first try. i'm not a big donut fan, but i thought i'd try. the goal is to do better next year![Edited on February 5, 2011 at 10:32 AM. Reason : k]
2/5/2011 10:31:37 AM
54 minutes. meh...it was my first time, but i run a lot so i was expecting a better time. the running actually wasn't that bad, it took me about 25 minutes to eat the freaking donuts though. i wasn't expecting it to take me that long.
2/5/2011 10:55:03 AM
there was a lot of people this year, i was passing people walking all the way to the finishbasically as soon as people got through the chute they started walking and blocking everyone behind them
2/5/2011 10:56:43 AM
i didn't even make it through the start until almost 5 minutes into the race. by the time i navigated the crowd and got to the donuts, i didn't have 25 minutes to sit there and eat. my goal was to make the hour deadline regardless of how many donuts i made it through.[Edited on February 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Reason : didn't make it anyway. ]
2/5/2011 10:59:16 AM
^ well your chip time shouldn't start until you cross the line, so maybe you did better than you think
2/5/2011 11:06:48 AM
I ate all 12 and think I finished in under an hour. I forgot to look at the timer at the start though. I was pretty close to the back. This wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Only felt like liking for a couple minutes.
