Looks awesome. I remember playing NFSII:Hot Pursuit a long time ago and loving it. Seems like they brought back the spirit of the old games and added a few things which makes it even better. Online mode and nicer cars And ridiculously good graphics... I have some questions about the police budgets recently...

I played the hell out of the original Hot Pursuit (I thought that was NFS3 btw?), that game was ultra fun.

I remember the framerate on the original Hot Pursuit was awful but the game was so much fun it didn't matter.

The original Need For Speed was the best. It was sponsored by Car and Driver.[Edited on November 25, 2010 at 1:52 PM. Reason : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWZ3LZ4PMLA]

I completely dropped the NFS series once they moved to the cheapest rubber band AI I've ever experienced in a racing game.Let me know if this one turns out any different and I may give it a shot.

I really liked NFS III. Most of the complaints I read about this game had to do with drifting around every turn and no wheel support. Figured I'd give it a try, so I ordered it today from Amazon for the surprisingly low price of $34.99. I didn't realize new games were subject to Black Friday deals.

how does this compare to NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 that came out a few years ago on PS2/Xbox/Gamecube? I thought that was one of the best cop-chase games ever

I too loved NFS IIIi think that was the one with a level you had to unlock called empire city or something which had this secret tunnel shortcut you could use to hide from the cops

I picked up a copy. Is there no Arcade mode? I can't find a way to do custom races

this game fucking blows horse shit. its nothing like NFS:HP2 or the ones before it. 1) why do you have to destroy a speeder in order to "arrest" them? it looks pretty but it feels too much like burnout. i liked the old NFS games where you could pull someone over just by boxing them in and forcing them to a stop.2) no arcade mode, what the hell? how do i make custom races? why do i have to search through the seriously annoying map for past Hot Pursuit events if i want to redo a race?3) how the fuck do you turn off traffic?4) why cant i use manual transmission?5) whats the point of the helicopter? lay down a couple of spike strips and then disappear? why cant they drop explosives that will seriously fuck up my car and stick around for the rest of the race?6) giving the same weapons to both speeders and cops? really? couldnt think of any better ways to make it more challenging?7) boring police chatter. in the old games the cops would talk so much more about which car they were chasing, their status, upcoming roadblocks. it made trying to get away so much more fun... and so many more i'm just too pissed off to think about (like no split screen, annoying "driving carefully" cop missions)if anybody played and enjoyed NFSHP2, i dont see how you can view this game as anything short of an utter disappointment. sure it looks pretty, but i dont see the "fun".[Edited on December 1, 2010 at 1:22 AM. I got it and I like it.. Most of the stuff ^^ he said is true but if you go into it wanting to remember the old days of the other hot pursuit games you got to realize it is a completely different game made by a different company.I would go point by point on that whole post but just realizing it is a different game and different company explains most of those.. And as I remember the old hot pursuit games didn't have variety in maps cars and game types this has. It definately deserves all the good reviews it is getting.[Edited on December 12, 2010 at 1:26 PM. Reason : .]

i understand that its a different company so its a different kind of game. i applaud them from getting away from the ricer-tuner style that they've had for years.but its the simple stuff like no manual transmission, no wheel support, and no fucking single-player/arcade mode (seriously, the only races you can play offline you have to look up in the career mode map) which make this a shitty racing game. these things have nothing to do with "the look and feel" of the old NFS's. they're things ANY modern racing game should have, arcade or simulation.[Edited on December 12, 2010 at 3:48 PM.
