I liked Issues in Global Politics (236), but I took it probably 4 years ago. When I had the class, it was very easy, set up as a seminar. You can in once a week, for 3 hours, and listened to a lecture on different subjects. I believe we had to post online, but there wasn't a final or a paper. Learned a lot of interesting things, and didn't have to put much effort into the course. It may have changed since then though, I don't know. That said, I highly recommend any of the History classes with Akram Khater (like HI 491). I had Modern Middle East (270) and History of the Israeli Palestinian Conflict (HI 492). He is a difficult teacher, and he will make it a difficult class, but it is immensely rewarding. If you cannot fathom reading extensively, or writing papers more than 15 pages, then I do not suggest you take his class. If you can stomach the work load though, it's one of the better classes State offers. Here's his website, if you haven't seen it: http://faculty.chass.ncsu.edu/akhater/personal/I also took National Security Policy (PS 437) and it was awesome. Again, lots of reading. About ~30 page final paper. I wrote mine on the susceptibility of the US to a terrorist attack by SCUBA.I've taken several of the PS or HI classes. Feel free to PM me for more information on any of these.[Edited on November 18, 2010 at 9:57 PM. Reason : ]

I only took 5 history classes, and as a generally I found that the more I was interested in the time period & location, the easier the class was, in that the class difficultly wasn't wildly varied from class to class, so how interested and engaged you were with the course made all the difference.

I'm going to resurrect this thread if I can since I forgot about it. Thanks for your responses. I'm definitely not looking for 30 page papers to write but I will check out all the suggestions.

I'd honestly need to see the titles and I'm not looking them up.
