EMCE broke the thread I went to Oktoberfest at Sugar Mountain today (in banner elk, near boone) and had some fair food. Last time I was there they had deep fried oreos, which were awesome, but not this year

Why? Who the hell keeps thinking it is a good idea to throw whatever the fuck you think of into a deep fryer? WHO?
10/11/2010 12:26:57 AM
Do they sell the sandwich that causes "the itis"?
10/11/2010 12:27:39 AM
The deep fried cheesburger was nasty.

I have a mandatory 3 items I get each year.-Roasted Corn next to the strawberry place.-Kiwanis ham biscuits.-Fried doughnuts.
10/11/2010 12:38:06 AM
Isn't a Doughnut just fried dough with sugar and stuff? WHY FRY IT AGAIN?
10/11/2010 12:44:05 AM
kettle corn and turkey legs are where it's at
10/11/2010 12:47:16 AM
Haha they don't call them "fried" doughnuts. I call them that because they deep fry the dough right in front of you and serve them.
10/11/2010 12:47:52 AM

Kinda wish I was going to the fair this year
10/11/2010 9:34:27 AM
I remember trying the fried coca-cola a few years ago, just because I wanted to know how the fuck you do that. It was pretty nasty. The fried Wisconsin cheese, however, makes up for all other sins.
10/11/2010 9:43:02 AM
WTF happened to my post on this thread?
10/11/2010 9:50:55 AM
Me too.. where'd it go!?
10/11/2010 9:54:58 AM
The doughnut cheeseburger:Also it seems like advertising for the fair this year is practically non-existent. Of course I haven't been watching the local news this year like I have in years past. Seems like most of that fair advertising in the past occurred during the news... like mentioning it as a part of every news story, not during the actual commercial breaks.[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 10:06 AM. I must get this food. Also, the first instance of a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich I can recall is from the pilot episode of "Johnny Bravo".]
10/11/2010 2:59:08 PM

^do you know the name of the place?I've never had a hot/fresh doughnut and would like to give them my money
10/11/2010 3:09:18 PM
To me it looks like an asshole shaped donut to me
10/11/2010 3:09:56 PM
That's the place with the mini-donut factory! I love that thing. It's also near the place where I get a fish sandwich every year.
10/11/2010 3:20:13 PM
Ham Biscuit & Brunswick Stew from the Cary UMC standFried Candy BarLime FizzApple Fritters over by the old mill/lumberjack stuffThese are on the docket every year. Other overindulgences vary.
10/11/2010 3:25:11 PM
Man I've only been to the state fair twice, and I had no plan of action for food.I'm clearly doing this wrong. How the hell do you people navigate to find a specific place anyway? Are they all mapped out online or something?
10/11/2010 3:26:25 PM
you just know from experience but some kid made an app last year i thinkno idea what its called thoughim giong to have a fried candy barmaple fudgemaple cotton candymaybe fried doughnutsgrilled corn
10/11/2010 3:34:51 PM
All the stands look the goddamn same to me. The only one I can find with regularity is the Wisconsin Cheese stand.
10/11/2010 3:42:23 PM
The carnies creep me outI'd bet at least 1/3 of them are repeat offenders

10/11/2010 3:44:12 PM
10/11/2010 3:44:40 PM
I also saw they were having deep fried Honey Buns...I am an advocate of Al's french fries drenched in malt vinegar, as well as the fried twinkie...like someone else mentioned earlier the fried coke was 100% a disappointment..Depending on the temperature I either get a hot apple cider or an apple cider slushie..yum..my mouth is watering just thinking about all this food btw contrary to what this post may indicate I am not a fattie
10/11/2010 3:52:19 PM
