o man so many quarters spent

Next they need to work on that Simpsons arcade game.

I don't think I ever got six together at the arcade. Probably 4 maximum. It still would have probably taken ~$10 to get to magneto but it was money well spent.

this game used to be moneythen i played it again a few years ago and realized that every time you use a super power, your health decreasesand it's impossible to beat bosses without your special powersthe game lost some of its charm then for metmnt, sfII, mk--theoretically, at least, you could beat those games on a single credit

I beat Smash TV on one quarter - fro real.

this is fucking awesome newsthere is no telling how much money i spent as a kid at the roller skating rink playing this game. multiple occasions of rolling up with some friends and 10$ in quarters.never noticed though that super powers took some of your health. now everything starts to make sense...

it was a joke for sure

NBA Jam arcade console used to bum all your quarters by letting you only play one half before adding more.My favorite arcade game memory was when the YMCA console of Marvel vs. Capcom was rigged so you could play unlimited games w/o quarters. Good times; Long lines.

there's a certain air hockey table in town that i have rigged to play unlimited games on one set of quartersshit rules

all the oldschool arcades had simpsons and xmen arcade games. Xmen had the special powers, which made the gameplay a little different. Simpsons was just like the ninja turtles arcade game.
10/10/2010 3:19:18 PM
what about the awesome combo attacks!?!?
10/10/2010 3:33:54 PM
The thing about the Simpsons arcade game is that it was made so early in the show's life (2nd to 3rd season IIRC). Playing it now would be weird because it'd be missing so many classic characters.
10/10/2010 4:03:23 PM
and includes so many weird ones. remember the boss of the 'moe's bar' level. who the hell was he supposed to be?
10/10/2010 5:07:22 PM
^^^ i could never figure out how to do those!
10/10/2010 5:27:50 PM
Other than the bosses it seems like having 6 players would make the game a cake walk. Of course nothing will stop the must-pay-two-dollars-to-advance bosses. Do they make any attempt to scale the difficulty to the number of players?
10/11/2010 8:56:57 AM
this and cowboys of moo mesa were the only games I ever played at arcades^ I remember that game, they had it at Chuck-E-Cheese[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 9:00 AM. Reason : .]

My friend has an arcade cabinet and has metal slug (don't remember which one) for it. We spent an evening beating the game once. That would have cost us like $30 each if it had been at an arcade.
10/11/2010 9:15:13 AM
Yeah, I also have Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, and Metal Slug X for my MVS. Long before I bought them, I do recall beating X once in the arcade for close to $10. Those games are absurdly expensive to beat, but so much fun when you're not feeding quarters.

This is excellent news. I also second bringing The Simpsons to XBLA.Two other worthy candidates that need to appear:
