Doesn't look very new. J/k. Have fun with it.
10/7/2010 3:28:02 PM
No you're not. I just called the Ford dealer and told them I'd give them $50 more than you.

10/7/2010 4:33:25 PM
Sweet car man!Gonna track or rally it?
10/7/2010 4:38:11 PM
It's a 2006 and I probably won't rally it but I'd love to take it up to VIR thoughOh and yes I know you can get more power for cheaper with a wrx modded but I want to stay stock. This one has a catback I'll probably replace with the stock exhaust [Edited on October 7, 2010 at 5:15 PM. Reason : .]

they feel so bulky/clanky . i always wanted one though.
10/7/2010 6:10:35 PM
i never understood why its cool to have 2 wings on a $35k car but its dumb on a $1500 civic
10/7/2010 7:19:03 PM
because these are functional and you're a moron. who wants downforce on the non-steering non-drive tires ??Thats why civic wings are dumb. They're just drag and they ruin the one thing that a civic does well.. get good gas mileage...
10/7/2010 8:01:05 PM
dont take this as trolling but, how many people that buy those cars actually track themagain not trying to start anything.
10/7/2010 8:22:23 PM
how many SUV drivers actually use 4wd?

Driving this car without dealer dude around has been fun. It doesn't shift as smoothly as my M Roadster did but they're two totally different cars. The STI is ungodly fast though.I never said I wouldn't track the car but I can't afford the tires/maintenance costs to do so often. This goes triple for rally.ha and I've never had a car with a spoiler like that, I keep thinking there's a car in my blindspot but its just the wing [Edited on October 7, 2010 at 11:33 PM. 10/7/2010 11:33:04 PM
One thing that struck me about these earlier STi's was how uncompromising the suspension tuning is. It's very stiff for a completely factory vehicle and was clearly designed with one thing in mind.
10/8/2010 2:19:56 AM
Nevermind.
10/8/2010 11:25:20 AM
its just too easy with a turbo car. i almost got an e39 M5 as yall may have figured out by all the questions but i wouldn't trade my legacy for shit cept another one with an sti tranny, cosworth engine and gt30r lol...
10/8/2010 7:48:33 PM

<3 those STIs
10/9/2010 7:40:38 PM
i still like it. nice car
10/9/2010 7:54:35 PM
its an 05 just picked it up a couple months ago and have a new wrx turbo on it already (vf52)So well on my way i'd like to do intercooler up pipe and downpipe but i'm kinda curious about the new BW turbos.
10/9/2010 9:56:27 PM
BigT I love the new gen STI's hater gon' hate but I love the shit out of them. You've obviously seen the Ken Block gymkhana videos with it right? sorry I don't post in here as much as I should. I'd be down to chill though
10/10/2010 3:58:13 AM
Just took it off road for the first time. my friend has a trucking company by the fairgrounds and has fenced in ~300 sq. yards of open sand lot. I can't believe how well the all wheel drive system works
10/15/2010 9:50:01 PM
did you play with the settings for the diff? I've never had a chance to mess with those.
10/15/2010 10:40:59 PM
actually I forgot to mess with it but I'll be out there again tomorrow in the day light and I'll open it up a bit more.had my first race today also, spanked a Mercedes SL 55 AMG from a rolling start too. I would have gotten him worse if we had a stand still startfound I out the car has turboback magnaflow exhaust and a K&N short ram intake. not sure what else just yet. The BOV could be aftermarket but I'm not familiar enough with Subaru to know for sure just yet
10/16/2010 12:30:08 AM
I like that Pep Boys fin on the back of your Chevy Malibu.
10/16/2010 1:09:43 AM
It's probably full stage 2Mine will be there soon. I got my 5mt staightened out in my lgt but I'm still looking for a 6 speed I want the center diff and font LSD from your car.

Still waiting for my STI one day. Either that or putting on a turbo the size of a basketball. Sadly, I can't save up any money. You'd think that without a $400+ car payment you'd be able to save, but somehow it magically disappears into other stuff.
10/18/2010 9:41:51 AM
just buy a big truck holset turbo and deal with the lag. 25lbs, you lift you lose. thats what im going to use when my 16g dies.

If it helps at all, it was slightly downhill. He was definitely flooring it as he hung about half a car length behind me going all the way into 4th gear (for me) so I guess I may have exaggerated by "spanking" him but hell it was my first race (and a very close one at that) in this car and it was exciting . I'm not sure how fast we got up to but it was at least 80 (probably closer to 90-95) and this was in a 45 so he knew it was a race. My STI is also slightly modified (K&N intake, Magnaflow exhaust, possibly retuned though I am not sure) which could help account for it, and I am extremely adept at shifting, plus I have a shift light on the tach so I know on my part I was on point.forgot to mention, I took the car off road again and messed with the locking system and while I could feel a slight difference when lockers were full on while I was drifting I'd still favor to keep it on auto unless the terrain was wet or icy. The lot I was on was sand/gravel and dry. [Edited on October 19, 2010 at 7:22 PM. Reason : .]

I don't know if you have a stock downpipe or not, but if you have an aftermarket downpipe your car most likely has a so-called "stage 2" tune. At the very least this increases the boost, and most likely leans the mixture, advances the timing a bit, and advances the intake cam. On an STi that's going to be at least over 300 to the wheels on the more generous dynos[Edited on October 19, 2010 at 8:14 PM. Reason : .]

and a metric fuck ton of toque.I'm still toying with the idea of self tuning mine. i know 2 off the shelf cobb tunes that broke piston ringlands.

haha considering my insurance doubled from the M Roadster to the STi I probably won't be street racing too often, sorry to disappoint. I only posted the one because it was my first 3 days of having the car and for the haters I know STi's aren't the fastest cars on the market, but for what I could afford and what I wanted, I'm happy with it. I'd like to find a dirt course or somewhere I could take it out, anyone know any? Trails, anything that doesn't have giant ruts that'll take out my bumper/rim/etc.
