Anyone else watching this show on NBC?

I've caught some of the ones on On Demand, and it seems pretty decent so far.

People have already talked about how much it sucks in other threads.

I think it's okay.

I watched the second episode out of morbid curiosity and it was pretty terrible. The jokes aren't funny unless you think anything said in an Indian accent is funny. Not so much a show as a lazy collection of stereotypes.

What do you expect a comedy called "Outsourced" to be about...?

The writers didn't have to make the Indian characters into caricatures, but they did and it's not funny even in the slightest

Anyone think this show would have been much more relevant 10 years ago? Do that many people really call & order from catalogs instead of online resources? Regardless, I'll give it a few more episodes, but it doesn't look promising...

^^ I think the balance in the show though is that they also do a good job of mocking American culture.

I feel like the comparisons of the stereotypes of both cultures works well as a comedy.

So you're saying it's OK because the American characters are also one-dimensional? Seems to me that's more of an indictment than an exoneration. Also they should really stop with the "Indian food is gross and gives you diarrhea" jokes.

I watched the pilot and second episode simply because it isn't "reality" tv or a lawyer/hospital/cop drama.

Both episodes didn't have any/many laughs. I'd be surprised if this one lasted very long.

I wouldn't hate this show quite so much if it hadn't pushed Parks and Rec off the schedule.

^^don't you worry... Parks and Rec has been set up to be a midseason replacement, and if all of you have your way, it will more than likely be for this show. I actually don't mind (and kinda like) this show

we know it's been set up for midseason, the thing that annoys us is that it never should have been. If you watched most of the NBC comedies and stayed with P&R after its first season you would see that it was probably the second strongest, if not the strongest of the four (in terms of creativity/comedy) by the end of last year. The show creatively outperformed The Office and 30 Rock nearly every week. Then you add Rob Lowe and Adam Scott who, i thought, made great additions near the end. Another screw job was given due to the fact that P&R stayed in production after season 2 in order to film the first half of season 3 before Amy Poehler went back on maternity leave. So they worked twice as hard as the other shows to see no rewards from it.

LOL

RAWR RAWR RAWR, GIVE ME MY SHOWS, RAWR RAWR RAWR

I will say, I really did like P&R, but you need to give way for new things to come in. It wasn't going to be The Office, the show which made way for all these thursday night commedies. And it isn't going to be Community. And 30 Rock, no matter what you think of it, is more acclaimed than P&R and has just as many, if not more big stars. They wanted outsourced to have a shot, so they threw it in with what (according to ratings) were the kings. How many times have you seen shows that were cancelled, not because of what they are, but because of the ratings... Weren't you just hating on them cancelling Lone Star? same story...

Whatever dude, it's not like any of the NBC comedies are pulling in ratings except for The Office. If they had yanked Parks and Rec for something that was at least mildly funny that would be one thing but they pulled it for the 2nd worst sitcom in a terrible development year.

I have a bet with this douchebag at work that this is the same guy who plays in this old Kay Jewelers commercial

He says no, I say yeah

Tell me I'm right

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CYbhuE6Vro&feature=related

also, I haven't watched a sitcom since 'Samantha Who' was canceled. This show is hilarious. I love seeing more and more minorities on TV. Yes, Indians do seem to be the new 'comic relief'. I hope they benefit from their newfound popularity and not be taken as a stereotype. Please keep this show on the air NBC!

that show got picked up?! To be honest, I stopped watching after the first 15 minutes of the first episode. It was clear their intent was to find humor by pointing out differences in the two cultures...problem was, it wasn't funny.

ehh, we watch it, and it's OK, but it's not great by any means. I laugh more than usual b/c I work with a lot of Indian folks and have been to India three times. Some of the stereotypes are way too exaggerated, but some are completely accurate.

I thought the movie Outsourced was really good, not offensive to either culture, well balanced, and very enjoyable throughout (especially if you've been to India). The show doesn't have the same heart and isn't as genuine. That's understandable though, since they're adapting the premise for a TV show.

I'll keep watching, but won't be heartbroken if/when it's cancelled.

Parks and Rec is about a thousand times better than this show. Almost all the jokes rely on being said in an Indian accent to be funny,

^I'm not a bandwagon fan. Bandwagon fans don't meditate for years on their decision to quit following a team, and they don't spend a quarter century repeatedly getting their hearts broke.

And why do you say "always" like this is some kinda regular thing? Exactly how many people do you know have stopped following the team they spent the first twenty five years of their life cheering for?

Also, I left in the midst of a good season, not right before, and I don't regret it.

Anyway, it's an emotional decision, and you need to back off.
