lately when i first start up my car (04 camry) and pull out of my driveway, i hear a slight gushing sound underneath me. and then again at the couple stop signs in my neighborhood. but after a few minutes and i'm out on main roads, accelerating from a stop doesn't do it anymore. is this an obvious sign of something i can fix myself or should i just take it to a shop?

Random thought: Toyota engine fans around and before that model year can be pretty loud and sound like a lot of wind under the hood for the first 30 seconds or so until the viscous clutch warms up. Does it go away if you just sit and idle for a minute or two?

You sure it's under you? Look under the car to see if anything is dragging. Check the wheel wells. It could be your engine and your coolant flowing.
