In my 1967 Mustang with 302, the fuel doesnt seem to be getting through the lines to the carb.

I took off the line up near the carb and sucked the gas all the way up so i know im not out of gas and I know its not a plug in the filter or line somewhere.

Im thinking its the mechanical fuel pump...however when I took it off to look at it, seemed to be in decent shape. the bar didnt move, i so went and got a new pump and that bar didnt move at all either like the one that was on the car in the first place.

any ideas?

I've had mechanical pumps break but still pump barely enough to supply the engine at idle. Can't stand the things. Slap an inline electric pump on there, buy a blockoff plate and keep on trucking.

Mechanical pumps are CHEAP. Go ahead and replace it. I've had them do the exact same thing. Doesn't matter if the spring and the lever offer resistance on the old one AND the new one; it's the diaphragm and the check valves that shit the bed most of the time. And those are directly responsible for the pumping action.

As cheap as mechanical pumps are, just replace the damn thing. Don't shell out 2 or 3 times the money for an electric pump yet.
