So, we released our new album digitally today. We'll be doing physical releases later this year. Every single review we have seen posted has been extremely positive so far, which has been really encouraging. The album is a concept album based on CS Lewis' The Screwtape Letters and was produced, recorded, and mastered by Jamie King. It is technically our first true full length since our previous two albums were really just long EPs We have 3 full songs from the album and a 5 minute album teaser up online currently: http://www.calledtoarms.comIf you are interested in buying the album, you can buy it digitally for only $6.99 right now from Amazon: (pretty low price for a full length):http://www.amazon.com/Peril-And-The-Patient/dp/B003XSZ8H6/ref=sr_shvl_album_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1281491321&sr=301-2Or $8.99 from itunes:http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/peril-and-the-patient/id384611099or if you're just really cheap and weren't going to buy it anyway:http://www.mediafire.com/?bymv2eyh4nmHopefully a few people here enjoy it. And, if you like it, remember to support local music

i was definitely feeling the instrumental on the first song on the myspace until the vocals kicked in...not that they're bad, i'm just too old for that shit /danny gloversounds like its put together well, a little too hardcore for me personally, but doesnt sound bad at all when i step back and hear it in a "i'm going to evaluate metal" way
8/10/2010 10:05:30 PM
its real tight jamie, from the 3 songs on the myspace. congrats man! my only thing is that its super tough to discern a concept album when its death screaming haha. i'm sure the lyrics are 100% concept, its just real hard for the casual listener to get that across. is that a vocoder on "Let Sleeping Worms Lie"? i dig that!!
8/10/2010 10:24:09 PM
^^ thanks dude I can totally understand the thing with the vocals. Maybe we'll put out an instrumental version of the album haha.^appreciate it Kevin. And yes that is a vocoder haha. He had a really old one in the studio. We actually completely rewrote that part while were in there recording to incorporate the vocoder. It was originally more of a yelling type part with some electronic stuff going on (kind of dillinger escape plan-ish). But our vocalist was messing around with the vocoder just for fun during a break from recording and we just had to use it; just changed the mood of that part a lot and we loved it. The things that get completely changed in the studio are sometimes the most fun parts to record [Edited on August 10, 2010 at 10:39 PM. Reason : ]

awesome. hopefully you enjoy it man; I know you've heard our stuff since just about the beginning so it will be interesting to see what you think of this album.
8/10/2010 10:43:29 PM
"i'm too old for this shit", too, but you guys are tight. I bet it'd be awesome live.

FINALLY i'll give it a review after i listen through it a few times
8/11/2010 12:52:45 AM
alright, i only needed to listen through once to know it's badassexcellent work, fellows
8/11/2010 1:53:29 AM
okay, i think it goes without saying that this stuff is totally not my style at alland that style of vocal will always make me laugh, so i can't and won't comment on the relative quality of it versus other similar vocalists because i don't even know what i'm listening tobut those are some tasty riffs, so of that i approve highlyand i'll def. come when you guys are down here, because if there's one thing i've learned about metal shows it's that the vocals get mostly buried in favor of riffage

This is good stuff man. I just listened to all the samples on Amazon, I'll definitely be buying this. I don't know why I've never listened to any of your other albums in the past after seeing you post stuff on TWW for years now, but I guess better late than never.Good work, nice to see some quality music coming from the Triangle.

^x5 thanks man ^^^ really glad you enjoyed it. sorry we don't have any crazy bass parts for you ^^ as stated before, I totally understand with the vocals so I can't blame you there. I definitely appreciate the backing of the guitar riffs though coming from you I certainly can't take credit for all the leads however; I am a very content rhythm player. (Though the line between what is rhythm and lead on a lot of riffs on this album does get kind of blurry).^Glad you finally checked us out (and even more glad that you enjoyed what you heard when you did)! If you like this album, you'd probably like the previous EP as well as it is fairly similar, though a little less refined/focused.

awesome, thanks dude. Really glad to hear that! One of the things we struggled with writing this album was trying to straddle the line between technical and just enjoyable/groovy.
8/13/2010 11:19:26 AM
that's some nice bit rates

Shameless bump. Thanks to anyone who bought the album . Sold pretty well considering we haven't played a show in awhile and it was just digital. Hopefully we can work out getting the physical copies this fall still.

^^^ no worries dude, at least you saw this after I bumped it. Really glad you liked what you heard too ^^ haha yea, we all were really happy with how his vocals turned out. Funny thing is, because of everyone living different places and being so busy, he had only practiced with us a FEW times before going into the studio. We headed in there only having heard his vocals to 2 songs on the entire album prior to the start of recording. This album was done a LOT over the internet (a la postal service heh). Almost all of the songs were written by the other guitar player and I creating the main riffs, recording them, and literally just emailing them to the other band members to write their parts. There were a few songs a week before the recording where we were practicing them with both guitars and drums for the first time live in the same room. It made for an interesting experience, especially during recording when you hear it all come together for the first time.^ thanks dude I *really* hope we get to play some shows soon..I've been saying that this whole year though since the album was basically completed so we'll see what goes down. We need to practice like crazy though (my previous paragraph probably explains partly why haha). Our plan has been to pick a handful of songs from each album relatively soon and focus on relearning/practicing just those songs for a few shows.and for any equipment buffs, this was a picture one day of some of the different amps we had been using during the day. We didn't end up using the Marshall on the top right, instead we used the rack-mount Marshall for a few things and I think we only used the 5150 for one part. The Marshalls and 5150 were Jamie King's.[Edited on August 26, 2010 at 12:51 PM. Reason : ]

no love for the orange ad30htc?I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
8/26/2010 8:30:12 PM
Well the orange and the mesa in that picture were what we used for most of the album. (Mixed the mids of the orange with the high and low of the mesa). We brought those in ourselves.[Edited on August 27, 2010 at 8:44 AM. Reason : ]

so we are talking about trying to actually get some practices in to play another show. Set would probably be 3-4 songs from the EP and another 4-5 from the new full length.Because we hardly get to play together, we need to decide our set way ahead of time and just focus on relearning those specific songs.Any specific songs on the new album that people would like to hear? We've gotten a little feedback from friends already but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask other places as well. Thanks
