I had Haru for dinner tonight- it is pretty good, especially for the pricewhere else do you like? I know I need to check out warijiu or whatever it is sometime...
7/19/2010 9:18:20 PM
The best sushi is the sushi you make yourself.
7/19/2010 9:18:56 PM
I really want to start doing that actually- my sister used to do it and she said it wasn't too hard (the hardest part is getting the rice to the right consistency) and yes, I know that is just a parody response, but there is my 2cents
7/19/2010 9:20:41 PM
i really liked warajiplus i know a purty girl who works there
7/19/2010 9:21:09 PM
yeah, that is the one - that same purty girl is the one who told me I needed to check it out[Edited on July 19, 2010 at 9:22 PM. Reason : at least I'm pretty sure it is...]
7/19/2010 9:21:53 PM
it's not that hard, really. yeah, my rice wasn't perfect, but if you roll it tight it'll all stay together long enough to eat.
7/19/2010 9:21:55 PM
do you do rice on the outside, or inside? i imagine on the inside would make it easier
7/19/2010 9:22:54 PM
definitely on the inside.here's a roll me and joie made:]
7/19/2010 9:27:57 PM
^ MMMMMM.did you buy a book? or just look it up on the internetz? or what?now i'm really craving sushi
7/19/2010 9:32:06 PM
7/19/2010 9:32:17 PM
I love having sushi parties at home but really it's so time consuming I don't do it very often.Waraji is good. Sushi Tsune is great if you're looking for authentic sushi. I also like that sushi restaurant that's near Earth Fare in Brier Creek for their specialty rolls.
7/19/2010 9:35:24 PM
yea i've heard that sushi tsune and that one in brier creek are both goodi wanna try the one in brier creek cause it is near my dad's house
7/19/2010 9:36:03 PM
^^^^ just made it. i looked online to try and make the rice right, which i failed at anyway. but i just made the rolls with the ingredients i like most in sushi. i've eaten enough to know what tastes good together. [Edited on July 19, 2010 at 9:36 PM. Reason : k]
7/19/2010 9:36:04 PM
^^^Tasu.. mmmm BOGO rolls ftw ]
7/19/2010 9:36:47 PM
Yep that's the one.
7/21/2010 12:00:48 AM
Best sashimi is at An.
7/21/2010 12:03:14 AM
sushi thai off of kilmayne
7/21/2010 12:09:10 AM
Sono (Fayetteville st.)Tokyo House (N. Raleigh)Waraji (W. Raleigh)no order, these are my favsMura and Sono are both G. Patel's restaurants so they have similar menus, etc. but Sono is just a little better. The best place in town hands down used to be a little place called Kuki in Falls Village but it shut down unfortunately... only place where you could get real Japanese traditionals
7/21/2010 12:25:05 AM
7/21/2010 12:46:21 AM
i don't know about sonoit gets like these raving reviews but i feel like it is slightly overratedi mean its good but...there are other places i like way way way way way better
7/21/2010 12:49:16 AM
I've heard the fish at Sono isn't particularly fresh. Like if you're going for American-style rolls it's fine but to steer clear of the basic nigiri.
7/21/2010 12:51:37 AM
yea one time i had it and it was pretty i've been kinda turned off ever since that time
7/21/2010 12:54:43 AM
carolina sushi & roll
7/21/2010 4:34:33 AM
7/21/2010 5:31:48 AM
now i'm craving sushi
7/21/2010 8:14:05 AM
Why waste time on the best sushi in Raleigh when you can go to Kashin, the best sushi in Cary? In Raleigh, the best sushi for your money is BOGO sushi during weekday lunch at Tasu in Brier Creek. I guess that's technically Morrisville.
7/21/2010 8:17:19 AM
^ I second KashinI go there fairly frequently, always has good stuff. Also Champa Thai & Sushi in Brier creek was damn good as well
7/21/2010 8:42:27 AM
My dad makes the best sushi riceI will ask for his recipe
7/21/2010 8:53:14 AM
Kashin decently priced?
7/21/2010 8:54:19 AM
i don't understand why raleigh (or surrounding areas) does not have any all you can eat sushi places...these are pretty popular in other states and cities.Maybe I Just don't know about one?Mt. Fuji in Fuquay has half-price rolls on Tuesday. We went yesterday and got 5 rolls (wasabi, mexican, rainbow, california, spicy tuna) and it was a total of 20 bucks.
7/21/2010 8:56:26 AM
7/21/2010 8:59:04 AM
Hoping for something under $80-100 for two people with a bottle of sake included
7/21/2010 9:08:19 AM
i love haru.
7/21/2010 9:11:47 AM
^is that the place next to Glenwood Grill?I went there once and it was really good.
7/21/2010 9:12:15 AM
^^^ I would think that would work based on the prices listed below, however I have not had sake there so I cannot speak for that and I don't know how much you people eat http://www.kashin.com/Sushi.htmlWord of warning: the #9 roll is lava hot death in your mouth. I can take some spicy sauces but if you get it, ask for it on the side or you and your asshole will be sorry.
7/21/2010 10:31:12 AM
Yeah, I don't know. It's usually $4.00 or $5.00 for two pieces of nigiri, right? That's average, isn't it?
7/21/2010 10:38:41 AM
Yeah that sounds about right
7/21/2010 10:44:16 AM
7/21/2010 11:30:20 AM
7/21/2010 12:58:46 PM
i will have to try this kashin place out
7/21/2010 1:01:22 PM
^ China Town buffet in Cary.Pretty awesome.
7/21/2010 1:01:59 PM
7/21/2010 1:02:58 PM
we need just a list of sushi places and people rate them in the area
7/21/2010 1:04:15 PM
Really all that means is that they're retards about their food management. I don't need to go to a restaurant that has a reputation for shitty fish that gives people food poisoning
7/21/2010 1:04:44 PM
Here are my top two sushi picks for Raleigh:WarajiHayashi Sushi (waaaaaay north Raleigh. Near Wakefield Plantation)
7/21/2010 1:08:53 PM
I also should have mentioned YoHo Asian Bistro in Cary. Their sushi is pretty awesome too.
7/21/2010 1:09:11 PM
I went to Waraji back in like December or Jan and it didn't impress me at all; went about 2 years ago and it was awesome.
7/21/2010 1:10:11 PM
From a Yelp review of Waraji
7/21/2010 1:29:31 PM
Kenji, right?He's full of shit.
7/21/2010 1:37:12 PM
Completely full of shit. He should change careers and become a lobbyist
