I don't know the answer for myself yet, but I wanted to ask the question while I was thinking about it. I'll share my number when I have it in the next 3 or 4 weeks. In the mean time, anyone got numbers on summer sessions?

~$200 for SSI~$80 for SSIIfor Fall 2010, the total at the bookstore would be $624.45, so I'm sure I'll pay around $250.

LOL @ the bookstore at state. Their price for a used book is as much as the new ones listed on Amazon.

I am now going to wait a few weeks into the semester and see if I actually need the books before buying them, sometimes the teacher will have a required book but does not use it or expect you to read it and tests from lectures. This happened in my phi 205 class, bunch of books were required but the teacher didn't even expect you to read them. He would ask "who did the reading last night" and no one raised their hand and he just shrugged.[Edited on July 21, 2010 at 12:36 PM. Reason : ]

I paid $308.64 for the 5 books I needed for this semester on Amazon. It would have been $379.50 from the Book Store.Hopefully that is all I'll need, but all too often there is one professor who forgot to add a book, or couldn't figure out the system, or something such that I have to buy an extra book. So at best these prices are preliminary.Still, I saved at least $70.86 (perhaps more if any more books are added). And with Amazon offering free Amazon Prime 2 day shipping to students with a dot edu address who sign up for it this year, that makes it all the more appealing.

All my books arrived today. One looks different than it was pictured, but is the right edition. Parking Permit came today too.Summer break is almost over. Only a matter of days now until I have homework on a regular basis again... [Edited on August 16, 2010 at 9:32 PM. Reason : .]

I was expecting to pay $100 / class for my 3 grad school classes for books, but so far I've lucked out. One class just has weekly material posted online, I found my physics text online in pdf form. Now, I'm just waiting to find out about my last class, which I'm hoping to find online too

I'm not even in school any more and I've spent hundreds of dollars on books. Don't listen to what they say, kids, it gets worse after college.

Too much. I got a bunch on half.com for a class that I ended up changing, and they don't really do returns...so yeah...
8/18/2010 2:24:40 PM
$492

I figured it was better to bump this than make a Spring 2011 thread.I've spent about $220 so far (all new books). It would have been $270 from the bookstore. But one class is listed on mypack as no books needed, and that is almost always a lie. I expect the professor will send out an e-mail a day or two before class saying this is the book you need, and these are the reading assignments you should have done by the first day of class (I've already had one prof assign a few chapters). So it'll probably end up closer to $300 I expect. It seems like amazon new is always cheaper than the bookstore even with the used option. I'll be graduating at the end of the semester, so hopefully this is the last time I'll be ever buying text books.

I think you should be banned from padding sh with all these stupid ass threads that would be laughable if more than 5 people read this sectionTerminate the jibber jabber. They're not going to make you a mod and no one cares.Keep SH simple and don't clog it up with all these shitty D- lounge threads that happen to be related to the fact that you aren't an alumniI'm astraladvent and I approved this message.
