Yes, it's a shame that Daily Kos was defrauded by a polling company.

^ Well, it is unfortunate that Daily Kos was defrauded. But what's clear is that they put out untrustworthy information. And the incident in question goes to judgment--you get what you pay for. Caveat emptor.[Edited on June 29, 2010 at 5:27 PM. Reason : Right?]

If anything, it ought to cause a LOT of polling customers to question the veracity of results they've been receiving, not merely Daily Kos or liberal blog sites. Yeah, it makes Daily Kos look bad, but not for the inaccurate data themselves.
6/29/2010 5:30:04 PM
^ Yes, but do you know how much of a background check Kos conducted on the research company? And did Kos ever visit their offices or conduct audits of any sort? As I indicated, this goes to judgment. I mean, the research company was operating out of a Kinko's? Doesn't sound very solid to me.[Edited on June 29, 2010 at 5:43 PM. Reason : Right?]

Isn't the Daily Kos one of those tea party websites?
6/29/2010 5:43:13 PM
^^ That's pretty much what I meant, yeah. Perhaps now's a good time for a lot of media outlets to be doing a double check of their data analysis and polling. Considering that the fraud has supposedly been going on for a while, I'd wonder a bit more about the due diligence that was conducted (assuming that it was done, of course). Was it a question of Daily Kos operators being negligent in their background checking, or was the fraud that good? We probably need to know more before we could determine fault and blame.[Edited on June 29, 2010 at 5:47 PM. Reason : Kinko's doesn't even exist anymore. ]

^^ Misdirection? This early in the thread?! Smells like. . .desperation.
6/29/2010 5:48:21 PM
Smells like smc's usual brand of thread-derailment attempts.
6/29/2010 5:49:22 PM
I thought KOS was some sort of abbreviation of the religious right.

Let's start with Fox:

CNN: Oh, no! The FBI blurred out New York on Google Earth--we can't see it! This is serious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BBD6aarHqE

Classic hooksaw misdirection, folks!
6/30/2010 8:26:31 AM
^ It's nothing of the sort. The point, which should be self-evident, is that all news organizations make mistakes--not just dummyhead FOX.
6/30/2010 8:39:14 AM
Just like DailyKOS!
6/30/2010 8:39:57 AM
Isn't DailyKOS owned by newscorp? I thought it was just british, like skyy news.
6/30/2010 8:41:53 AM
^^ Yes, and as I indicated, it goes to the judgment of Kos concerning checking out a firm doing research for them on a long-term basis.[Edited on June 30, 2010 at 8:43 AM. Reason : .]
6/30/2010 8:43:13 AM
^^ True, it's just another conservative blog found to be making stuff up
6/30/2010 8:44:32 AM
That's what I thought.
