ESPN has a poll - Rank 'Em: College Football Quarterbacks Russell is currently in 10th. Christian Ponder and Jacory Harris are ranked higher than him. That's just crazy. Here is the poll:http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/rank?versionId=2&listId=631[Edited on June 29, 2010 at 8:51 AM. Reason : ada]

i love me some R. Wilsonbut......what has he done to be a top-10 QB in the nation? flame away
6/29/2010 9:42:23 AM
Ummm I don't know... 4th nationally in TDs last year, top 15 in passing efficiency and he is doing this without a runnning game to speak of (besides his own running game)[Edited on June 29, 2010 at 9:48 AM. Reason : RW]

nevermind..got beat to it. [Edited on June 29, 2010 at 9:48 AM. Reason : .]
6/29/2010 9:47:35 AM
QBs, more so than any other position, are judged by winningAnd thus far, Wilson hasn't done much of that
6/29/2010 9:48:49 AM
well then why does everyone have a hard on for Christian Ponder? he hasnt put up anything spectacular in the win column
6/29/2010 9:49:42 AM
^^ insert "our defense is horrible/we were in a lot of shootouts" argument.
6/29/2010 9:52:52 AM
^^He's led his team to two winning seasons, won a bowl game and he plays for one of the most popular teams in the countryIf its even remotely close, FSU will win a voting contest with NC State 100 times out of 100^ Doesn't matter...the public's notion of a great QB is one who wins, no matter the circumstances[Edited on June 29, 2010 at 9:55 AM. Reason : X]
6/29/2010 9:52:54 AM
Russell Wilson is the second greatest college quarterback of all time, behind Rivers and just ahead of Jamie BarnetteAnother 5-7 season and he may cement himself in the #1 spot
6/29/2010 9:53:11 AM
^ You're just trolling if you don't include Daniel Evans. Kid should've won the Heisman no doubt.
6/29/2010 9:55:53 AM
insert words...no one claimed the best of all time, but i'll be damned if he shouldnt be in the top 15. someone on the espn message boards said it best: "he deserves to be there, if they didnt have Russell Wilson last year they would have been Maryland bad"
6/29/2010 9:56:13 AM
If Wilson can't lead us to victory on the field, we will lead him to victory on the internet
6/29/2010 9:57:05 AM
he drives for our wins

If Houston didn't have Matt Schaub last year they would have been Oakland badUnless you're winning, the difference between pisspoor and mediocre is negligibleWin 8 games, win a bowl games, then we can put him in the discussion
6/29/2010 10:00:22 AM
i forgot we were playing an individual sports here...maybe he'll win the 200m QB contest at the next olympic games.
6/29/2010 10:01:34 AM
Sorry Russell you are no good in my book unless you can put up 50pts a game.
6/29/2010 10:02:38 AM
Why is Peyton Manning not considered by many the best quarterback of all time? Because he has...One RingWhy is Barry Sanders considered by many to be the best running back of all time? Even though he has...Zero RingsBecause winning matter for QB's, the perceived "team leader". Other positions are just a part of the puzzle, and easily replaceable.
6/29/2010 10:06:44 AM
6/29/2010 10:09:09 AM
Remind me again where I claimed RW to be the best QB of all time or even the best QB this year. I was just defending the point that he is a top 10 QB in the nation this year... but continue on with your trolling
6/29/2010 10:15:22 AM
you're right...Dan Marino isnt even a hall of famer
6/29/2010 10:16:18 AM
he's at least top-5 in the football/baseball hybrid category that i will concede
6/29/2010 10:17:26 AM
Top 10 out of 120 doesn't happen on a losing teamMarino was great, but no one considers him the best solely because of no ringsStatistically, he was right up there with anyone
6/29/2010 10:18:56 AM
go ahead and rattle me off 15 better QBs then

Baylor 4-8 (1-7) Griffin Record indicates he is not a good QB, I don't have to look up stats
6/29/2010 10:37:32 AM
But you should haveHe was hurt in the third game and missed the rest of the season
6/29/2010 10:41:00 AM
Meh forgot about that. Ok locker Washington 5-7 (4-5)
6/29/2010 10:43:50 AM
Jake Locker did not have a winning season either..he's no good. But Josh Nesbitt! now theres a QB...top 5 atleast
6/29/2010 10:44:29 AM
Locker would have been the number 1 pick this year ahead of Bradford if he left. The point of this is not to go thru and nitpick my list. It's subjective, like anyone else's, and you could make a reasonable claim that Wilson is a top 10 QB this year, albeit on the fringe of that club. The point of this is to show you that Russell Wilson's 17-1 and 31-11 seasons lose a lot of their luster when you realize they didn't lead to overall team success. He's a very good quarterback, and its not his fault our defense is so porous. But the fact remains that unless you're winning consistently, you'll never be viewed as one of the best in the game.
6/29/2010 10:47:59 AM
Meh, winning games in college is no where close to mattering as much as it does in the NFL when it comes to evaluating a qb. (the playing fields are not nearly as close to being equal) I don't see how anyone who has watched them both play several times can say Pryor > Wilson. Put Pryor @ NCSU and Wilson @ OSU........2 things would happen.........Buckeyes get better and we get worse.
6/29/2010 10:48:47 AM
^^ The fact the Lockler would have been the #1 QB in the draft defeats your whole argument! Why is he regarded so high if the ultimate measuring stick of a QB is how many games his team wins? b/c everyone realizes that his defense blew and Wash would have won a lot more games if his defense wasn't giving up 30+ points on the reg.
6/29/2010 10:55:48 AM
i just dont get how you take away from an individual's performance because of team play. last time i checked best QBs list was broken down by individuals. if it was based off of who wins the most they'd be ranked by team record and you wouldnt even have guys on that list that have only a couple games experience. then a name like Tyrod Taylor gets thrown out there who has a fraction of the yards and less than half the touchdowns but wins off Beamer Ball. So why not throw Nesbitt above him too? Seems like a fuzzy line when you can throw guys in there that win, and guys in there that have NFL potential, and guys that put up good stats..but not Russell because he doesnt win.

6/29/2010 11:03:12 AM
according to Slave Famous, Rivers wasn't a top-50 QB his junior or senior yearbecause the rest of the country views him as an asshole
6/29/2010 11:03:33 AM
I'd love to see the arguments being made if this wasn't an NC State message boardGood State players will always be portrayed here as better than they really are, and bad State players will be shit on moreso than anywhere else. Its the nature of bias, and while I've acknowledged several times that he's a very good player, saying that he's top 5 despite 6-6 and 5-7 seasons makes you appear quite homerific.
6/29/2010 11:05:40 AM
6/29/2010 11:11:14 AM
ha, that dumb bitch Heather Dinich even likes Wilson better than most on that list.
6/29/2010 11:12:40 AM
Top 5, Top 10, whateverThus far, he's been good, not greatThe David Gerrard of the NCAA
6/29/2010 11:14:06 AM
David Garrard? tell me we're not talking about the Jaguars QB here?
6/29/2010 11:18:23 AM
LOL what a terrible terrible comparison.
6/29/2010 11:18:32 AM
so if our defense was better or lets say we had unc's defense. If that was teh case then our record would be better and therefore by your logic, Wilson would be a great QB and would be worthy of top 5 discussion.

Slave beats off to Chris Johnson highlight tapes
6/29/2010 11:21:43 AM
Good Qb, had an 18-3 season, eerily similar to Wilson's 17-1However, the rest of his team is average, and they've never experienced any prolonged successThe fact that they're both black is a coincidence
