I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and the AC clutch bearing went. I'm pretty sure the shaft bent too, so I just went ahead and got a new compressor. The more I look into it, the more I realize I can't do it myself, evacing the system and recharging it, etc. Can anyone recommend a good CHEAP shop that can put it in for me? Also, since the pulley seized up, I can't drive it, so if they can tow it that's even mroe awesome.

Jeepman or SMC might. Tommy up at mission valley (corner of avent ferry and western across from papa johns) will use your compressor that you bought. Most shops won't use your parts, they order there own obviously for liability reasons. One of these guys might be able to help you though. good luck

I'd do it for you, but I haven't got the hose's nor the shop to do it. I've done a few before and the compressor is the easiest to replace.

Ok, got my new compressor in. Everyone says I need to evac the system first, but to do that I need to get it to a shop, and to do that it needs to be towed, and to do that I need money. I absolutely cannot afford to have this thing towed. I don't even really need the AC, I just need to be able to drive this bastard. Help?

If I could find my fucking vacuum pump, I could take care of this for you. I have a venturi style vacuum pump that might work, but we'd need to do this at Jeepman's garage (need the air compressor). We can then charge the system. Let me know where you are, and we might be able to tow it too.

By the way...you can put the belt on and drive the motherfucker without having the system evac'ed. Why don't you just do that?

The pulley seized on the old unit, so the serp just runs over a static pulley, and i don't have power brakes or power steering because of it. If you guys can do it, name your price and i can hopefully do it. I can barter for shit too

people i've talked to said you can't take the old one off without evacing it. But shit, right now i can't drive anywhere . i'd rather be hot as fuck driving than hot as fuck walking

ZX...Couldn't you slap a shorter belt on there to bypass the AC compressor as a temporary fix?

That would get him driving, save him from having to get it towed, and give him some time to earn more money while you look for your pump.

Yeah, you can, but I don't have the part number for it. I think the AC compressor is on the passenger side, up close to the top on that one.

Might wanna check with the parts stores to see who has the number. Advance doesn't list it, but I'm gonna do a little more checking.

Dayco's number is 5060895
