If you ran for office what would be your platform? Give like 10 examples.

mine is:

-no government retirement like social security. that is your issue
-no government handouts for health care. its not fair to make other pay for your health
-no regulations on busness. who creates jobs? who makes money? why stop them from doing that?
-end tarifs. they are meant to protect jobs for special groups here. we should all be able to buy what we want for the right market price
-amendment against pork spending
-private schools. want to see people do better? give them a profit incentive.
-end all departments of goverment except for a small congress that meets online, judges, justice, defense, and anything that protects private property, but thats mostly justice
-end us co operating in groups that take money from us to give to wasted projects, like the UN
-issues related to religious freedom should be deicded not by activist national judged but local judges that know the people
-end taxes, spending, government move to being payed for voluntarily

I know this can be a controversal topic but its something that needs to be talked about. Ive seen a real deficency in the atmosphere at our political platforms in this year and in the past couple years. i went to the first debate this year because i had a free ticket from someone. things werent even sold out! how do you think that looked to the candidates on the first night? we showed no confidence in the political system.

look i know you think im trying to tear people down but really what i wish wed do is pump things up! ive thrown out some suggestions, but i know some of the rest of you are affiliated with political parties and know what most voters would want to get them out and get them pumped up. ive proposed some things from my own experience in promotion and sports and i have more ideas, but i think we should start a new project to make the best political environment to appeal to the most people and get them out. give the voters reasons to choose an nc state candidate. get voters in the stands. get them pumped. get them WINS, because atmosphere matters.

I like that some of you contributed to your platfor. The others need to leave it at the door.

One of the most unique ideas for a platfor ive heared of is to use many different sort of props as a distraction for the otehr candidate. someone had a big donkey at a rally. Thats what we need! We need special branded NC Gov Props, like different types of foam donkeys and elephants and patriotic things.


And this sounds like a good idea too. To do the introductions of candidates and other exciting events witha live host. they do this at some professional games. a live host would need to be an entergetic rep/dem fan who is multitalented at a number of entertainment types. they can promote sponsors and products between votes, give props to the team during speeches, introduce the candidates, host halftime events, stuff like that. someone with a big presence. im just gonna go ahead and say im 6 foot 5 so yall know who i think should be that guy.

-Create some kind of sustainability department. Create a standard for sustainable lifestyle
-Implement taxes and incetives designed to reward a sustainable lifestyle and tax excess: energy taxes, new land development taxes, gentrification incentives, tax shitty foods, etc
-Quadruple the number of free clinics
-Wall-off western Mexico, grant amnesty, more visas

Which office? A county commissioner might take stands on school board funding, a school board candidate's focus could be on busing policies, a council person might take stands on development and growth, a state senator may have positions on local delegation legislation, all of which is way different than the scope of a senator or president. And then running for judicial office is a whole different game altogether.

For comparison sake it'd be interesting to have people specify which office they have in mind.

So far everyone in this thread seems to be running for president or a cozy spot in an insane asylum.

nah but its what i grew up with, its what i know, its what most foods, beverages, supplies, etc are measured in (in the US)

then in elementary school they're like "we're going to be switching to the metric system" so you learn all your masses, volumes, distances, as well as the prefixes from milli to kilo (didnt really get into anything larger or smaller til middle school), which are intuitive

but its the conversions that nobody wants to do all the time which will make it never catch on in this country...i mean i know there are 2.2 pounds in a kilogram, i know room temperature is about 22 degrees celsius, and obviously 0=32 and 100=212, but i'd rather stick with what i've known, and whats the norm

theres a reason it hasnt caught on here yet

Theres too many conversions to remember with the american system. With metric all you have to know is prefixes that most people know anyway.

Also, all medicines and foods (in america yes) are reported in metric units. Medicine is exclusively in metric units.

You have it back asswords. The metric system is all mathematic conversions using the prefixes while the imperial system is all memorization of how many____ are in a _____. Thats not as quantitative as the metric system. Knowing 12 inches are in a foot is not math. Knowing 100 centimeters are in a meter is purely math.

This is why american scientists and academics use the metric system. As soon as the nation becomes more educated, the switch will be made.
