CamStudioFree, Open Source. It's only caveat is that it uses software realtime compression - so if you go Xvid you'll need a 2.4Ghz+ C2D to pull off 720p or better. Other than that GREAT software.

webex. you can narrate over the phone, export to a ton of nice containers/codecs (including flash), they do the storage, and they do the deployment.

You can download a full version of the program off torrent sites. The full version comes with a text file that contains a serial number. You can use this serial number to register the full version of the program.

You can also use Expression Encoder to do this. If you're recording low-delta video (like a tutorial of a piece of productivity software), you can go REALLY high resolution with a tiny file size.I've been really impressed with it, enough to finally give up Windows Media Encoder and Camtasia.
