omg so much to do....not sure the beach will be open yet (the bar there) but if so, go there. Where are you staying? What streets/part of town? If you go to a cubs game be sure and go to the Cubby Bear just for the whole experience...or John Barleycorn. Stay out of boystown unless you like that stuff, in which case, enjoy...the best breakfast can be found at Melie's in the West Loop....um......
4/15/2010 3:38:33 PM

ok, so you'll be in the north shore area.... Um....well I dunno who you're going with and if they like pretty things, but there's an arboretum around there in northbrook or glenview or something.Go eat a hot dog at Weiner Circle one late night.... Mortons is a good steak house. Go walk around Michigan Ave and the streets around there (oak, elm etc) really pretty and May is a great time cause all the tulips and daffodils will be in bloom. Shed aquarium is also really cool....um, at the top of John Hancock is a pretty cool restaurant if for nothing else but the view....

W on Lake Shore is nice...a little too zen for me though...but since you're staying elsewhere...I would say go to the merc but it's closed so At least I think it is...and I'm guessing that even if you can get in, there isn't much to see.If there's one thing Chicago has it's bars, bars and more bars....everywhere. Lincoln Park has good bars....as does WrigleyvilleAnd cool people are Cubs fans, trashy southsiders are Sox fans and gay people are Mets fans

So, if you are going to be up around Evanston:There is an easy to get to Giordano's in Evanston. If you want the 'classic' experience order the stuffed pizza. I'm not a huge deep dish kind of person, but I have to admit it is amazing. For bars in Evanston 'Prairie Moon' is a pretty chill place (in fact if you come on a Friday you are likely to run into me). Nevin's is next door to Prairie Moon. If you are down next to Wrigley and need something cheaper head down to the Nesei Lounge. NOTHING fancy about it, but reasonably priced and the owner always gives us free shots. For hot dogs in Evanston I suggest 'The Weiner and still the Champion...' (on Dempster I believe) or 'Mustard's Last Stand' up on Central St. The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Addler Planetarium are all great. There are actually lots of free days so if you play your cards right you can save big bucks. The Addler has free days May 11-12. The Field Museum is free May 10. The Shedd and the Museum of Science and Industry won't be free while you are there, but are pretty worth it anyway. Also, the Lincoln Park Zoo is always free, just pay to park if you need to. Same goes for the Botanical Gardens (north of Evanston). Some other downtown tips include:Go to The Bean (not the real name I know).Go to the Hancock Center. DO NOT pay to go to the observation deck ($16). Ride the elevator (for free) up to the 95th/96th floor and go to the lounge. Buy a drink. Yeah, it will be a little expensive, but not ridiculous. Thus, you will get the view, plus a drink and a nice seat for less than the observation deck. Also, have your woman go to ladies room...AMAZING view. Sorry dudes, you don't have a window. Also, if you want more Evanston info just PM me.

^ aha, I saw that show the other day. I don't know what to think....like, if I order a scallop... I want a goddamn scallop. Not your tofu interpretation of a scallop, goddammit.

If you are foodie and appreciate amazing hamburgers go to a place called Kuma's. http://www.kumascorner.com/ It is a death metal bar that has by far the best hamburgers I have ever had. The wait can range between 30 min to 3 hours so be prepared to drink a bit before you sit. I am from Chicago and the best advice I give to people visiting is this. Go to a neighborhood like greek town and explore. Chicago is great for many things but I love just exploring the unique neighborhoods. And please if you are going to get a hot dog do not for any reason ask for ketchup.

Most of the good spots have already been accounted for... but a heads up, seeing all this could take a week easy.- Walk along the lake shore. Buckingham Fountain, Millennium Park (with the Bean), Navy Pier etc.- Eat some Chicago Pizza (thin or stuffed)- Museum Campus (Field, Shedd, Addler). If you like more techy/hands on museums , hit up the Museum of Science and Industry (it will require a drive/bus ride, but its worth going).- Eat an Italian Beef sandwich- Hancock Center or Sears? Tower. Being that high you have awesome views of the city and suburbs.- Eat a Chicago hotdog- Ride the L around the city, see what you see (last time we saw two gay guys having sex in their apartment)- Eat more- Hit up Wrigley (for the atmosphere/history) or US Cellular (for a real baseball team)- OM NOM
