Bank is BB&T.If I deposit cash within the branch it instantly posts to my account. Would the same be true if I deposit cash at a BBT atm machine?

It won't post on your account until the next banking business day...i am pretty sure business banking hour are 9am-2pm (or something like that) regardless of your mode of deposit [Edited on April 11, 2010 at 12:04 AM. Reason : ...]

i know for a fact the the money does not instantly post to your account. the balance may show what it WILL be in the receipt, but the money isn't actually there. I was fucked over by BB&T with that shit before. I do not do business with them anymore.

Even if you deposit the money, it will not officially post until the next banking day as said by Smath. Your bank will screw you in terms of the order funds are available. They'll debit your account before posting the deposit.Trust me on this.

Even when you make a counter deposit, they only give you $100 for checks until they clear the next business day (cash immediately posts as available balance on counter deposits).

I advise against this. I once deposited cash at an ATM and they ended up putting it in the wrong person's (that is, not mine) account. I had to get on the phone and track it down... you wouldn't have this problem with a check. I say just wait until tomorrow or if you must get your balance up see about wiring money to is.

BB&T doesnt post the same day unless it is before 2pm of a business day. Bank of america posts instantly as long as its before 8pm expect for sunday then it would post on monday

I work for BB&T. You will receive a $100 courtesy credit for the cash you deposit at the ATM. That $100 is available immediately for use, but not the whole deposit amount. You'll receive credit for the rest of the deposit tomorrow night at midnight.

Just remember your debit is a banks credit

I would never deposit cash into an ATM. A dishonest employee could just take the cash and say your envelop was empty, nothing you could do about it

deposit the cash at the counter, and if it's a check, cash it first then deposit. it's instant then, from my experience at least.

^^depends on the ATM machine. bank of america's machines actually count the cash for you so there's not much way anybody could do that[Edited on April 12, 2010 at 11:29 AM. Reason : and there's no way they could get away with that more than once or twice]
