http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/09/15/gallery-gt-gt-two-supra-hearted-bimmers-from-jersey.aspxvery clean install on both E39 and E36!! not sure why not stick to bmw inline six...seems like an obvious choice and a lot less work, but this is gorgeous nonetheless

why not? that engine is proven stronger than any other inline...not to mention the millions of parts and the fact its been done over and over again...there are tons of 800+hp supras that are daily drivers...the bimmer motors have to be built to hold anywhere near that kind of power then you get into how well do you trust your machinist? Then you still have to deal with having racing pistons that need to be hot to perform right in a dd car... i mean yeah its tons of work and i like the bmw motors too and i've seen some built s50s and s52s that were insane... but then i haven't seen them with 200,000 miles on the stock bottom end with shit tons of boost.

A question: There weren't a lot of Supra TTs made, thus I'd imagine not a huge supply of 2JZ engines. So where are all these things coming from? Does Toyota selling them as a crate engine?

They come from Japan. Mainly from the toyota soarer and the like. Waste they should jusy swap these into sc300's

^^can you get overnight shipping on those bitches?

Yeah i was about to say.... there weren't many shipped here but there are crap tons of 1jz and 2jz engines just waiting to jump the pond. The main downfall with that engine is.... weight.... an lsx swap would be lighter and the power options are still there, although i have no idea how an lsx responds to forged pistons (if they piston slap a bunch or not)

+1 for the LS1 swap. its a tried and true swap and sounds amazing!!http://www.vorshlag.com/index.php?cPath=1_4&osCsid=7cf17f6eb85a98e8b21f39d318483e3bhttp://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=4ad994e40dadc4d27e55c1f59dd66b9e&t=805396

^ Yes, but slapping a turbo on a 2JZ is not the same if that's what you're thinking. There were a lot of internal differences between the 2JZ-GE (N/A) and the 2JZ-GTE (Turbo) engines. Different head design, pistons, injectors, oil squirters, etc.

I seriously love my e39. If I had it 5 or 6 years from now I'd try a lsx swap. (no bmwcheve, bmc or whatever to be born thread though)
